Demon Slayer Mugen Train Ep 1

What an epic episode. Storytelling is nice right now. 🤘
I am glad I stayed through the 🟨to get to this

Demon Slayer Mugen Train Ep 1

Fun Fact about the English Dub (which is what I watch) when the slasher demon is threatening to kill the grandma, he says "How about we play a little game. I win if I can slash this old hags throat open, you win if you could sever my head before I do." Rengoku they says "I accept your challenge. Good luck" and INSTANTLY KILLS THE DEMON. I fund it funny how straightforward and honest Rengoku is, such a stand-up guy.

Man, I'm so excited to watch your reactions to the season. The Mugen Train Arc has amazing visuals and personally one of my favorite soundtracks of Demon Slayer. I can't wait to see your reactions🤘.

Loved Mugen Train in theaters that I saw it twice and I immediately got all my anime fence sitters to watch it to get them to convert to watching anime and they did LOL I love the art of Demon Slayer. I've not been around to watch anime in the 80s and 90s since I started out in the early 2000s but honestly this as well as some of the stylish anime like Mob Psycho and DanDaDan, JoJo, etc. my mind is blown by just how amazing the art and color is. But I still love the classics and the unique art design of the old school stuff, some people are just anime purists lol. And the fact that Ufotable doesn't do many anime it lets them put everything in demon slayer, it's very mixed media and it fits well other than other anime that do it to be cheap

Been watching anime since the late 90's or early 00's.. I wouldn't say anime has gotten better it just changed. Anime used to be like darker in color and the style was so much better than it is now.. I really do mean the style was so much better. Also this is more subjective but retro anime leaves more to the imagination and it sometimes have vague story telling. Modern anime is alright... The stories are more simple and clear but there was charm leaving things ambiguous. It's up to you which is better. For the actual positives the music has improved a bit, the animation (as in frames per second not how it looks) is consistent, the pacing is so much better 100% (pacing issues was a plague until relatively recently). I used to be able to watch every single anime that came out each year but not anymore since like 2010. That's about it for the positives. Modern anime including demon slayer has far worse character designs. The manga for Jujutsu Kaisen or Demon Slayer would not have gotten popular enough to get their top notch anime adaptation back then. Ever since 2010-2013-ish the aesthetics has plummeted, "moe" (cute) harems in school settings has taken over. It was the worst time period for anime until Attack on Titan came out. Hunter x Hunter 1999 direct comparison to 2011 (when cuteness was all the rage): https://youtu.be/l8DZwWnXGuY Also this brings me so much nostalgia (scifi channel promo 20 seconds): https://youtu.be/GEGzjlPk7sM

Hate to say it but this Ep is pretty appealing. I only watched s1, movie and s2. And I quit watching it cuz I feel like the exaggerated expression sometimes is too annoying for me. But this ep is pretty dope, realizing when the story talk about characters other than MC, the story is pretty good. The soundtrack is dope too.

Eventually, when time permits, you will have to look into some anime movies Tony like the Studio Ghibli classics or something like the original Ghost in the Shell because you will be in awe of the level of quality despite the age of those movies. They still look stunning today because they went all in on amazing animation that will always stand the test of time. Probably would be at least more reasonable on your end if you just do them like Jojo or HOTD but I get if they won't work with your schedule for a while

Season 1 ended on Sept 28th, 2019, the Mugen Train movie which grossed over $500 million USD was released in Japanese theaters on Oct 16, 2020, and the Mugen Train TV series format started airing on Oct 10, 2021. The movie gave studio ufotable the funny nickname "Unlimited Budget Works", referencing something from the Fate series which they also animated.

I always love seeing you getting hype over the visuals, so no complaints here! You are in for a treat with this one. Not to mention Season 2 has some outstanding fight scenes coming up as well. You'll be eating good (visually) for a while haha.

CdrCain

I love UFOtable's animation style so much

Ray traced anime

SimplySora

As someone who has been watching anime for 25 years, UFO table’s animation is definitely one of my favorites.

People overuse the term "movie quality." Sure visually it's movie quality pretty but it does not have the animation density of an an actual anime movie. Demon Slayer's quality and quantity of animation doesn't really change, it just gets a slightly shinier coat of paint each season. I was actually a little disappointed when I saw Mugen Train in theaters as animation wise it was no different from the show. Actual character animation is still kept at a minimum unless there's a fight happening and that's like the biggest thing that separates a movie production from a tv one since they actually have the time to do that.

Frizen

HAHAHA. Every time I see a cut I hear that audio in my head regardless of what show Im watching

DrumRollTony

Bro I'm fucking dead at the Full Metal Alchemist commercial cut

FullHeart

there was a little under 2 years inbetween season 1 and mugen train

You are absolutely right when it comes to animation. From now on every single episode is movie quality. I mean Ufotables president did the good ol tax evasion and... put that money back into the studio (yeah it's real). Mugen train movie is to this day the best earning anime movie of all time and not by little either ($500 mil and 2nd is 400). Last arc is gonna be a trilogy of movies and everyone already knows they gonna hit 3 new records. As others have stated already Ufo is pretty unique company that really values quality over quantity and doesnt like one project a year. Thanks to that they almost exclusively use in house staff that they train and actually pay proper salaries. I know it may sound weird but Ufo is very unique (other being Kyoto Animation, no clue if any other studio does that as well) when it comes to their approach to HR and anime overall. Also to give a little bit more context for this episode. This is an anime original and came after the movie. Personally I think this episode is 10 times better after you watch whole Mugen train arc but that's just me.

It's crazy you said the FMA in the middle so entirely correctly. You scare me Tony 😂

ndcho

Ufotable is able to make great looking anime because they have very little outsourcing and basically only take on 1 SOMETIMES 2 projects a year, unlike other studios that take on a bunch of shows and have their staff spread thin all over the place

Alejandro Pupo

Demon Slayer pretty much has been releasing a new anime every year since 2019 with 2020 being the movie and back to the TV show after that. The last Fate movie released the same year as the Demon Slayer movie, so after Fate the studio was pretty much all hands on deck for Demon Slayer, making an already good looking show spectacular to watch!

Alejandro Pupo

The 🟨 (hilarious btw) will still have his moments here and there throughout the series, but it's not as consistent or as cringe as it was in season 1, and he does mature as time goes on, but don't think you've escaped the screaming just yet lol

MegaRaikou64

You're totally right; as good as season 1 looked, Mugen Train looks even better.
