INE Chapter 95: Battle of Demon Suppression
Added 2025-05-27 02:26:26 +0000 UTCOccasionally, Chu Changli grew weary of killing. When she no longer desired to shed blood, she let her inner demon take control of her body.
Then she would rest, falling into a deep sleep.
Her inner demon shared some similarities with her, both had a love for killing. But they were also different, for her inner demon enjoyed writing journals.
The day before Chu Changli ascended to the position of Demon Lord, Yue Qianqiu arrived. On that day, for her master’s sake, she only killed one person.
After Yue Qianqiu left, she sat in her seat, silently staring at the dark floor tiles.
A pair of legs appeared on the tiles, and a person walked toward her.
Chu Changli asked, “Who are you?”
The person, clad in elaborate dark robes, with blood-colored eyes and a cold, thin voice, smiled and replied, “Gu Xueyi.”
The next day, Gu Xueyi took control of Chu Changli, killing for her amusement, and claimed the position of Demon Lord.
She was Gu Baiyi’s inner demon, as well as Chu Changli’s. She could feel Chu Changli’s emotions and hold her memories.
In other words, she knew that Gu Baiyi, that fool, liked Ji Rong, and she also knew that Chu Changli, that fool, admired Yue Qianqiu.
Gu Xueyi was their inner demon.
And so, she too, was foolish like Chu Changli and Gu Baiyi. She couldn’t help but laugh at her own stupidity, and after laughing, she killed a few people.
It seemed that no matter when, Gu Baiyi was always so foolish.
And it seemed that she, too, was just as foolish.
Gu Xueyi looked at the bloodstains on the tiles, feeling bored.
She casually picked up a book titled The Hidden Records of Cultivation, written by a confused Taoist.
After finishing the book, she sneered.
“What a terrible book.”
She then opened her journal and wrote down her feelings on the first day of becoming the Demon Lord.
“Today is the day I ascended to the throne of the Demon Lord. My mood is good, so I killed three people to celebrate. After killing them, I still feel bored.”
“Then I randomly flipped through a book called The Hidden Records of Cultivation. It was written by a confused Taoist who actually insinuated that beyond the barrier lies another world.”
“Tch. I asked Yue Qianqiu about it, and she said there’s nothing beyond that barrier, just like the mountains behind a mountain. So, behind that barrier is just another barrier.”
“This book is boring, but Yue Qianqiu is even more boring.”
Many years passed, and the floor tiles in the Demon Palace remained cold, while the flowers on Phoenix Terrace remained as vivid as ever.
Back then, Chu Changli spared Changqing’s life. For many years after, Changqing played music for her on Phoenix Terrace.
Until that day, when the Saintess of the Divine Sect, Mei Shu, observed the disaster star, and the high priest of the Divine Sect received a divine command.
A herald on a heavenly steed carried the decree to the four seas.
“The Heavenly Demon appears in the West Mountain. Kill them all.”
Changqing watched as the Demon Lord raised the Red Sky Sword, setting up a barrier in the West Mountain.
She was momentarily dazed.
The string snapped, and the blood stained the zither.
In an instant, the righteous factions gathered, electing the four major sects to lead the charge against the evil demon.
This battle would later be known as the “Battle of Demon Suppression.”
One year before the Battle of Demon Suppression, Chu Changli wrote two books. One was called The Heavenly Demon Scroll, and the other was titled Yufei.
The final move in Yufei was named “Burning River.”
According to the righteous factions, that sword intent could burn the world, unmatched by any other sword technique.
In truth, there was one that could rival it.
The opening move of Silent Mountains and Rivers, “Mountain and Sea,” was enough to break “Burning River.”
But for all these years, no one dared use basic sword techniques against the Demon Lord.
Chu Changli waited. She waited for the day when her master would use Mountain and Sea to overturn her rivers.
She deserved to die, but could only die under her Master Sword.
If she didn’t die, then she would break through the barrier and go to the place her master went.
Because, as Yue Qianqiu once said, Chu Changli had stayed at the northernmost edge of the heavens for a year.
When she was awake, she would strike the barrier with her sword intent. That barrier was indestructible, immovable by human hands.
When she wasn’t awake, the inner demon would take over.
Gu Xueyi looked at the barrier and remembered the question Gu Baiyi had asked her.
“Why was I born? And why must I die?”
Gu Xueyi took out her journal and wrote a passage for Chu Changli and Gu Baiyi.
“Where will Yue Qianqiu go? I don’t know, but one day, I will also push open that door.”
“I will go to the place Yue Qianqiu went.”
The day before the great battle.
The four major sects met at the largest tavern in Yue City, “Jinyu Tower.”
Inside the private room sat four people: Master Kongji of the Bodhi Sect, Feng He, the sect leader of the Divine Sect, Yan Haiyao, the leader of the Tianyin Division, and his wife, Meng Ruo.
Silver charcoal burned in the stove, and everyone sat around the fire, chatting. They were waiting for the last person, the key to the upcoming battle.
Meng Ruo leaned against Yan Haiyao and, with a smile, asked, “Leader Yan, tomorrow you’ll fulfill your wish and rid the world of the evil demon. Don’t you feel pleased?”
Since being defeated by Chu Changli many years ago, Yan Haiyao had never been able to defeat her again.
He was the young master of the Illusion Flower Palace and the sect leader of the Tianyin Division, but in his heart, there had always been a barrier he could not cross.
To surpass this barrier, he even resorted to demonic methods, practicing forbidden arts just to defeat Chu Changli.
Yan Haiyao lifted his cup, drank, and calmly replied, “Exterminating evil and eliminating wickedness is naturally satisfying.”
Meng Ruo gazed at the tea cup in his hand.
In a few days, it will be her sister’s memorial day.
So, she asked, “Leader Yan, do you know what day it is in a few days?”
“What day is it? Tell me, A Ruo.”
Meng Ruo smiled even more deeply and replied, “I’ll keep you in suspense. After we slay the evil demon, you’ll know.”
After saying this, she turned to Master Kongji and asked, “Master, do you know when the Sword Saint and Young Master Mei will arrive in Yue City? We’re eager to wait.”
Master Kongji rubbed his prayer beads and said, “Please be patient, Lady Meng. I’ve heard that Young Master Mei was delayed at the Xuanhe Flying Immortal Bridge, so he might not make it in time.”
Meng Ruo smiled. “I see. It seems Young Master Mei truly has good fortune.”
Feng He, sitting nearby, held his sword without saying a word.
At that moment, a hand lifted the beaded curtain.
The young man in red who lifted the curtain didn’t immediately step through, but instead held the curtain up and stood respectfully to the side.
Mei He smiled slightly and spoke to the person behind him, “Master, this is the place.”
A pair of white boots stepped into the room.
Today, Yue Qianqiu wasn’t wearing red robes but a simple pale gown.
Holding the Qing Frost Sword, she casually found a spot to sit and calmly said, “Everyone, let’s begin.”
The meeting wasn’t much of a discussion.
However, because Yue Qianqiu had once been seriously injured, they couldn’t help but worry. They decided that Yan Haiyao would go with her to face Chu Changli in battle tomorrow.
But Yue Qianqiu remained calm, seemingly indifferent.
After all, those with the surname Yan wouldn’t have that kind of fortune, his end was near.
Although Meng Ruo had little to do with this matter, she took great pleasure in the occasion. While smiling and pouring tea for everyone, she picked up a brush and began to draw a picture for them.
