After the whirlwind that was September, this October has been much better for me. I'm starting a new homebrew campaign soon and doing a short adventure to introduce some friends to DnD which is both very exciting! On top of that all, I went away for a weekend to visit friends in Vienna - Austria which was very nice to get away from everything for a few days and explore a new city.

Upcoming Content. I still needed an extra potion to round out the Fjords and Frost set. I've included that into this month's hag theme, because hags famously brew potions! I expect to finish this set in the coming few weeks and after that, I'll do another check on new sets I can create and will probably do a poll on the options!
WorldEmber is coming... As announced last month, December will feature WorldEmber, the massive worldbuilding event over on WorldAnvil (where the Sea of Starlight is hosted). I'll be preparing for WorldEmber over the course of the coming weeks. So you can expect to see some early plans , and have opportunities to vote or leave your thoughts on the content that might be made during the event. In any case, I'm super excited to churn out a lot of varied content again and also do some worldbuilding which will probably be focused on where my new campaign will take place!

Welcome to the monthly update! It's been quite a busy month with the academic year starting back up again, and me getting back into teaching classes. The creation of a bunch of themed sets as well as creating the regular 12 items was a bit ambitious but I managed to get it all done (despite being sick for a few days this last week).
Before we get into the news, do not forget to vote on the spooky theme poll, and of course download the monthly release that has just been updated! This month I've included the new Alchemist's Archive set as an extra!

Sets Sets Sets. As promised, I've been busy with sets this month. I was able to complete three full publications which was a bit more than I had planned originally, but I'm so happy to get these completed! The coming month(s) you can expect more of them to be made and published. Next up is probably Fjords and Frost', a nordic themed set.
Also keep an eye out on my patreon shop, where I'll be selling themed sets separately, for now there's just Blood and Silver on there, but the plan is to get every themed set available in the shop as well. The shop is a great option if you don't want to become a (high) tier patron, but still want a specific product. The new item sets of this month were:
December and January Plans. As with previous years, December will feature WorldAnvil's 'Worldember' event. A month of worldbuilding and writing. Last year I managed to grab the 'most words written' achievement with over 135k words. I'm not sure If I'll be able to do the same this year, but I know this event will always leave me with a bunch of content I want to illustrate.
So instead of doing theme polls for december, I'll try to get your input and/or votes on the direction and content for this event. I'm also inspired to create a lot around my new campaign that just started a week ago. Even though it will be focussed on writing I'll for sure illustrate content during the event to keep up the patreon rewards, but in january I want to catch up on illustrating all the written content that I was unable to illustrate (because words are usually quicker than art).
Content made during this event can be serial and high quantity content such as last year's Spellybeans, but also unique creatures, traps and NPC's. This january, I may also look at content created during previous events, because I've got a couple of items, creatures and traps that have been created on the Sea of Starlight, but have never been illustrated or published here on patreon, It's just sitting there!
I really want to make it a content party around the new year for all of you. So in short: You will definitely get new content in these months, but instead of just 12 items it can be any type of content and combination of things we'll come up with and have lying around. (oh, and the best part will be that this content will be publicly available for everyone on the Sea of Starlight, since that is a requirement for these events)

End of Summer Content Update I'm working on a small content update. I noticed a few spelling mistakes and unclear texts so I'll be changing about 20 items in total. Most are just spelling mistakes (capital letters in places where they should not be for example). These updates will filter through over the coming weekend. If you ever see a mistake in content, please let me know and I'll add it to the list to fix! Note: I already changed the Felfire Spellgun and Forceforged decimator across all products. These should now be more balanced and have clearer text in general..
End of 2023 Plans As the academic year starts, I'll also be back to teaching students at university again. However, I want to be putting more effort in Bonus Action this year, and have changed departments and taken on other tasks at my job that will hopefully reduce stress and allow me to do more for Bonus Action. I'll also be looking into making some solid plans for the remaining part of 2023. Here's already a few things I want to complete this year:
At least 1 themed set a month from existing content (starting with the 'Alchemist's Archive')
Re-publish the trap compendium
Finish online art courses I bought ages ago (to increase illustration quality)
WorldEmber (writing 50K+ words of worldbuilding in December)
Create around 17 more potions (to make a '100 unique potion bundle' at the start of 2024)
Make a plan to illustrate a bunch of things that were made during writing events on the Sea of Starlight (including creatures, paper charms, magic items, maps, NPC portraits, flags, icons etc. Possibly this may be a January 2024 project to get all these illustrations done... )

WorldAnvil's Summer Camp This month I participated in the yearly Summer Camp challenge over on WorldAnvil, where the Sea of Starlight is hosted. I wrote a bunch of things about a continent in my own campaign setting that is bound to inspire more content. I already made a couple of creature statblocks as well, so I hope to illustrate those at some point! If you're interested in reading or checking it out, here are some links! Upcoming: More themed Sets and Relics of the Realms 14 With the addition of this month's items, I've got enough magitech and mechanical magic items to make a nice 'Majestic Magitech' set. After next month, I should also have enough items for the next volume of Relics of the Realms! So those will be coming your way soon. I'm also planning some other themed sets that I can compile out of the 700+ items I've created. (Majestic Magitech and other themed sets will be at the Archmage tier first, but will for sure be included in an Adventurer's Extra's at some point as an extra download. )
August Plans As some of you may know, I'm currently on a break from my university job. Next to relaxing a little bit, I hope to learn some new skills and improve my art further during these weeks. Of course, there will be the usual 12 items this month, but I'll be trying some new things, and if they go well you will surely see the results here!

Another month, another update! This month featured a library and archive theme. So there's a lot of paper and a few ancient objects in there. All the content posts and the Sea of Starlight have been updated with all of the items today.

Juggling Jobs Before I tell you anything about plans, I need to say something about something else. As some of you may know, I'm also a teacher at a local university. Lately it's been a bit hectic and stressful in the workplace. It has sort of concluded in that I'll be switching departments in September. Hopefully that will result in less stress, and more energy, space and time to develop Bonus Action further.
Content Plans Next month I hope to release at least two sets. First, the Adventurer's Essentials which I have been dying to get done. And, with this month's release, I'll also be able to compile Relics of the Realms 13! The last few months I often overdelivered on the amount of items, but for the near future I want to compile those all into sets, so expect that coming your way!
Summer Plans I had originally planned on going to the USA and visit GenCon this year, but have decided not to. Mainly because of all the stress at work I had not time to prepare or plan a trip like that. Instead, my focus will be on a couple of other things.
In July, I'll once again participate in WorldAnvil's Summer Camp. A month of writing and worldbuilding. Because of this, instead of a theme poll upfront, I mightsee if we can connect the voting to that challenge. (Oh, in June we'll already start with some preparation and you might even spot me on a stream!)
With a break from teaching, during July and August I also want to spend more time developing my artistic skills. I'm looking into animating/vfx, as well as further developing my creature and character design skills. That way, I can create better content faster!
August may be a month where there will not be a theme poll, that way I can create content ahead of time and also have a bit of a summer vacation. I definitely need one, haha.
New Item Cards This month features 20 new item cards. I forgot to put the Pocket Ladder in any pack since it's been created, and the Dreaming Death poison and Ring of the Prying Eye have been released at an earlier point as well but not in a monthly release, so those have been added in here as well to round out the set for 20 new items this month!

Relics of the Realms I've finally finished the updates last month on all Relics of the Realms sets, and now the new volume of Relics of the Realms is also out at the Loremaster Tier. Download it here! Volume 12 will follow shortly, as there is already enough to complete it. I will also start remaking the themed sets now that all the content has been updated.
Starforger NPC I was honored to have my first 100,- patron last month, for which the reward is a custom NPC! You can find the traveling tiefling merchant Nicholas Jomanhan, in this month's silver pack. I plan on making an NPC bundle with more characters, and of course they will be added to the Sea of Starlight soon!

Next to a bunch of elemental items this month, and the lovely Spring Elemental. I spent a lot of time this month updating the oldest Bonus Action content. Relics of the Realms, (As you may see in the latest release), has a new cover. But the exciting thing is the updates within, there have been a a ton of updates, check the lists in the bottom of this post, to check which items are affected. Some have minor spelling and grammar changes in text, or a few layers on top of the old artwork to make it better, others have more significant changes in abilities or artwork. All in all, they should be easier to use and understand now, and far more consistent across the board.
Please let me know if you find discrepancies between anything on cards/pages/sea of starlight. As I had to update roughly 300 items in 3 places, something may have been overlooked.
Next steps I hope to update the following things this weekend and after that. Full packs. The items I made this month are available for download in the monthly pack but not yet in the full packs. I will update those packs as soon as possible. I will have to export everything with the new cards which will take some time. Especially the art and digital cards will take a little time because they require to be renamed by hand :).
Relics of the Realms. Following the full packs, I will post the new Relics of the Realms packs. These packs will include the updated pages with brand new covers, but I'm also bringing back the card packs for each volume. In the monthly pack you'll already find relics 3 and 4 with the printable cards. As soon as I'm done with compiling the digital item cards I will also put those in there.
Each Relics of the Realms will be in separate posts here on patreon so they can feature a list of the items that are in the pack. (A central 'relics' post in the index will link through to all volumes). Over the course of April I hope to generate relics 11 and relics 12 (finally!)
Sea of Starlight. Txt has already been updated on the Sea of Starlight, but the new images have to be rendered and put into the system. Hopefully this will be done by sunday but this depends on how long the elements above will take me. Another thing i'm looking into is tagging each item with the set they are in, so that lists can be generated on Sea of Starlight as well so that you can see and find what you need more quickly. (Possibly with a link to the download on patreon, that'd be great!)
Themed sets. Next on my list is finally getting to the themed sets! The starter set for the Silver tier is first on my list. After that I've already compiled a few lists of items for specific campaigns (Blood and Silver, for vampire campaigns, or Pirate's Treasure for your seafaring adventures!). If you got any ideas for themed sets, I'd love to hear them!!!

The new and improved Relics of the Realms are heading your way pretty soon. And I have a question for you!
Currently, text (and images) cannot be copied from the pages. I chose to do so to prevent people from copying or stealing content after an instance of an ex-patron (lower tier patron) professionally printing all my cards in multiple sets and re-using the art without permission in semi-professional settings. I have not found a way to prevent copying of images, but allow copying of text.
Currently, you are also able to copy the text from Sea of Starlight, but I understand you can only do so as long as you are a patron, and not after you have unsubscribed but have the pdf.
So the question is: As a patron or owner of the pdf, would you like to be able to copy the text from the pages (pdfs)?
The planned changes of (re)moving content from tiers and the archive will happen this friday. Be sure to download everything you can before that, you deserve it! :)
Please note, that the december packs downloads will remain here until the end of the month. The new monthly items will be posted before the end of the month. Due to the mess and chaos that WotC caused, real updates on a lot of products might take a while.
I might also post some questions, a poll or a survey here to figure out how to move forward as more details come to light regarding the licensing and legal matters surrounding DnD right now.
Just updating this post to say that even though I have updated the tiers and rewards, because of the current discourse and activity surrounding the OGL, I will be awaiting any official changes before re-publishing the rewards at those tiers. Until that point they will be available for download at the tier they have always been at.
I will make this month's 12 items, unless big legal changes happen that prevent me from doing so safely.

As stated before last month, I will update the patreon and the rewards and tiers. The tiers will get an update soon this week, so you'll see a different coin/gemstone to your name. I'll probably update a bunch of rewards but upload them without a proper 'cover'. I'll add those later, as some of those take up a bit of time to illustrate/create but I don't want to keep the content from you.
However, as you may have also noticed in the online sphere. The Open Game License (or OGL for short) is 'changing'. This license allows me (and many others) to make and sell content for dungeons and dragons. However... Wizards of the Coast / Hasbro, are changing the terms. Rumor has it, more details will come out this month, but it isn't looking too good... If you're looking for more info, #openDnD is used across various social media platforms to broadcast the news about this.
The updates to all the rewards and new products will trickle through, but might take a little bit more time as I'm extremely anxious and demotivated by these developments and also need to figure out what to do with these changes for when they do come through.
Don't forget to download all the things while you still can, be it because of the changes to this patreon, or me having to stop doing this because of legal issues (let's not hope that happens...)
Thought I'd give you a bit of an update as the changes that are announced for this patreon are coming soon and to give you a bit of insight in what I'm working on. Read more about the planned changes here.
Important note I got asked about a few times concerning the tier changes: I will not automatically charge you more. The tier NAMES and REWARDS will change (and associated metal/gemstone), the amount you are currently paying will remain the same (unless you decide to change tiers of course).

Updates and New Tiers+Rewards
I had planned on getting everything ready and out in one go, but as I was looking at all the products, I found out I'd much rather update them before.
So I'm currently planning on redesigning a bunch of products like the themed sets and making a separate bundle each for traps, creatures, random tables and the like . This will take a bit of time as it concerns about 25-35 pdf bundles, so this will roll out over the course of multiple weeks in the new year while I'll keep the regular content up.
If you have ever found any typo's or mistakes in one of my products, please let me know in a comment or message on discord. This is a perfect opportunity to make some corrections if needed.
As new and updated content will be rolling out, you can expect a few e-mails from patreon notifying you of these new posts. That might be a bit spammy, but I'm afraid I can't stop patreon from doing that. And of course, you may see some changes in the master index and tier descriptions which will hopefully be much simpler.

I'm currently creating the new products for the update in 2023. I was wondering in terms of the creatures/monsters if I should include humanoids and generic statblocks in the same bundle, or put those in a bundle combined with NPC's I plan on making.

12 new items! A few more candy and food items to round out the trick or treat month and some other stuff that I was inspired to create the past few weeks.
First of all I'd like to thank you for your patronage! As I've already announced over on discord and back in august in this post. I've been planning on making some changes to the patreon to make sure Bonus Action can remain providing great content but also thrive! As I've created content over the years, the types and amount of content has expanded a lot and it all has been sort of dropped into different tiers, making it kind of hard to find out what you get at which tier. I hope these changes will also make that more clear and put everything at a fair pricepoint.
It has taken me a while to figure it all out but I think I've settled on the tiers you can see in the image of this post. I'll try to explain a bit here what will happen below. Again, these changes are planned for january 2023 (and not set in stone, so let me know what you think!).For 2022, the current model will stay the same for existing patrons, and you will get the same rewards.
Monthly rewards and archives. I've shifted to a monthly model at the lowest tier, where all the cards (digital and print and play) as well as item artwork can be acquired that are made in that month. A set of 100 'starter adventuring' items will give you a good base of items and every month a different volume of Relics of the Realms (a set of 52 items, both cards and pages) will be made available at this tier. Higher tier patrons gain access to complete archives of this content. I feel and hope this better reflects the amount of content you get for the price you're paying, but also makes it much easier for me to upload and update downloads. (Leaving me with more time to actually create content)
Collections, Supplements and New rewards. In the coming months I'm planning on making some more compiled pdfs and sets of content so you don't have to download so many single page pdfs. A creature book, a trap book and a book of random tables would be great. New additions will be added to these books so you can just download the new one and delete a previous edition. Like a few other changes, this will make the master index significantly easier to navigate so you can find and download what you need.
$2,- Tier. After long consideration, I've decided that the 2 dollar tier will be archived. This tier will already be archived this week. So no new patrons can subscribe at this level. If you are a $2,- patron at this moment, you will still get the rewards for the remaining months of the year. After that, you will be able to upgrade to 5,- dollar, or remain supporting me at $2,-. The rewards will be archived when the changes go through, so make sure you download everything before that moment. If you are a patron at this level, I'm considering to create a reward or download as a special thanks for supporting me at this tier, open to suggestions!
General Tier Shift. Because of the archiving of the 2,- tier, every tier name/color will get shifted, so you'll get a new tier name but your pledge will remain the same. e.g. if you are currently at Platinum 10,- tier, you will become a Gold 10,- tier.
Sea of Starlight Access. If you have access to the Sea of Starlight through your 5,- Gold tier membership on the 30th of december 2022, you will keep access as long as you remain a patron at this level (or higher).
Lifetime Sea of Starlight Access. If you currently are a patron of mine and have pledged over 300,- dollars in total (lifetime pledge) at the 30th of december, I will add you to the list of Lifetime access to the Sea of Starlight. This is a special reward for those people who have supported me throughout it all for so long. You definitely deserve it!
Questions? Remarks? Ideas? I'll be very honest that these (big) changes to my patreon are very scary for me, because honestly this is a part of my livelihood and I'm afraid of losing your support. So please give me all your feedback! I'm very curious about your thoughts and feelings (Especially if you are a patron of mine!)
A quick news update, the Bonus Action patreon just switched to subscription billing. This is a new Patreon feature which makes sure patrons don't pay double when they sign up. What does it mean exactly?
New Patrons It means new patrons will be charged monthly on the day they joined instead of the first day of the month. .For example, if you sign up on the 25th of the month, you will not be charged again a week later at the start of the new month, but instead will pay on the 25th again.
Existing patrons If you are an existing patron, you will still be billed every 1st day of the month and nothing will change for you. If you unsubscribe, and later resubscribe, this system will also be in place for you of course.
I'm very happy Patreon now allows for this way of signing up and hopefully this will make becoming and being a patron a little bit easier!
