Book 1 : The Crown
Added 2020-12-10 13:03:16 +0000 UTCAnd the final release candidate is here. Thanks to the Discord team that's been bug-fixing, looking for typos, balance testing the updated gems, and finding continuity bugs. This market the (hopefully) final build submitted to Steam.
So... what's new?
Well, first of all the Achievements. Steam has 55, the non-steam version has one for playing all the Game of Friends snippets (they were removed from the Steam build, as they're considered ingame advertisement).
I added two new Kath events, called the Kath House Kafe. I've really grown to like Kath, she'll be back.
I revamped the Memories section, and did a full set of those. All memories should now be triggering correctly.
Finally I did a full balancing pass of the gems to make more strategies relevant; previously rage/cluster (and to a lesser degree Rage/Shield) had become the dominant meta-game. I revamped that by introducing the idea that Rage does damage to yourself (something backed up by lore, for example in the Quartermaster). As such Rage Cluster is still a lethal combination, but it's a very double-edged sword. Some other gems (notably the Ice gems) were boosted, and I added an Ultra mode for the Poker masters out there.
Ultimately I'm quite happy with the release... we'll see if there's bugs once it's introduced to a wider audience :)

It took longer than I thought. Became bigger than I imagined. And I fell in love with the characters along the way. Including some, like Bella, which was originally imagined as a side-character. I look forward to what Book 2 will teach me about them.
