It's not pretty, but I thought I'd share it for those of you who are interested.
I've traditionally looked at the external builds as the main milestones of the project. I've mentioned before that I do the big story pushes (Act I, II, III, IV, etc), interspersed by 'content updates', most of which can be played at any point across the the book, or beyond.
The Books form the greater story-arcs; each tells a chunk of the story, with a concrete beginning and end, and with different flavor in terms of the problems and themes it tackles. Each book will be a separate download, though it will share save-games and progress. There's a couple of reasons for this, but the big one is that I want to avoid the risk of later content breaking stuff in the beginning. I also want to contain the download size; right now it looks like Book 1 will be ~1.5GB by the end; once Book 1 is done I'll be able to strip out content that I know isn't used any more (like the first date scene with Emily), and simplify the build.
At current the thought was that Steam releases would be the big "final" downloads for each Book, though each public release would be available as a beta for anyone who wants one. I'm open to arguments for/against that, though.
Hope that helps, and thanks for the support everyone!
