Ep 8 (Season Finale) Alice In Borderland

Ep 8 (Season Finale) Alice In Borderland

Comments

I was hoping that we might get it because of how season 2 ended but I'm glad to hear that it has actually been confirmed.

drrkdwaekki

came back here to say that we are getting a season three, i really hope to see my fav chishiya again

agustdpaving

I haven't read the manga so I don't know if this is confirmed or not.. but a theory I have is that the red lasers are not lasers, they are the persons heartbeat flatlining.

ReCharge Shotz

I just love how RJ said the q is silent so it’s pronounced crochet 😂 but it’s the guys who thought the card suits where heart, diamond, clove and clover 😂 😂

Anah!

I think they might do a season 3 because of the joker card. Overall I liked this season better just because of the character arcs. And croquet is different from crochet and RJ kept saying crochet and it threw me off lol. 😅😅

So...instead of providing insight you decided to *checks notes* be vaguely rude...? You could've spent that time ignoring my comment. I don't get what's up with people being more rude lately....but try Jesus...try Buddha....try crack or meth...but don't try me. 🙄😒

mscurlsncurves

Uh, did you pay attention to this episode at all?

Pucci

The answer is on the name all the time it’s alice in Borderland

It's finally done! 🙌🏾 Firstly, these "we dumb as hell" disclaimers kill me every time. Whenever I call someone dumb now, I'm always gonna hear Tobi's voice 😂😂 Also, I am shocked! I had my comment ready, but all of y'all's initial summaries hit all of my feelings (though this episode and the show would never get into the 9-range for me.) Jeff really took all my thoughts verbatim! It was good, but there was definitely some stuff they could've cut and they were messing with us too much. Overall, it's wrapped up and it can stay that way, I'm not interested in another season. For me, I nearly stopped watching because I got bored/frustrated with having ZERO answers for 2 seasons, then they wanted to waste time playing games only to rush the ending. It felt like a chore watching this show. (Anyone who has been a "Pretty Little Liars" fan understands my frustration.) I mentioned this before, but I agree with Tobi...another 2 episodes would've helped a lot. They needed to show more bonding (especially for Arisu & Usagi, that whole love story narrative did NOT convince me at all.) Also, they went through all this work to teach them a lesson, but they never showed him turning his life around. The time after learning about the meteorite should've had its own episode to show true resolution and to also show what's going on with those 2 guys who decided to stay and become civilians. I'll be so glad when they get rid of this "short ass season" method. I had a lot of issues with this episode/show but the main ones were (1) They created more questions and had too many loose ends. I'm assuming when they saw the fireworks IRL that was the current civilians winning the games and choosing to stay, but how did they (Mira, Booty Dude & his band, #2 from the Beach, etc) get there? It's too much to explain, but it's not adding up. (2) Based on your thoughts and everyone's comments, the show is very unfair. A lot of people had a will to live but simply couldn't clear games. Chota and Karube definitely had a will to live and could've used redemption but were forced into a game where only ONE winner was allowed. How can you judge them for that? What about all the people who were mindlessly killed during the Witch game? If it was truly about "will" then why put them in a no-win situation? Also, the plot armor was ridiculous. I don't agree with Tobi...that many people shouldn't have been attacked and lived, especially when so many others barely got hurt and died instantly. The plot armor was stronger than vibranium which to me spells lazy writing. The arrow girl was new and got shot multiple times close range by an automatic gun...like c'mon...there's NO WAY to excuse that. And as much as I loved Aguni, he should've died in S1, along with Niragi...they really gave that fool a redemption 🙄😒 Remember, both of them wanted to die but didn't want to be the one to "pull the trigger" so how do you explain that? I feel like Ep. 7 was just a way to blow our minds because they were running out of material. (So far, strong plot armor has only worked for Stranger Things and they still had several beloved characters get killed, so there's no excuse.) Overall, my feelings for the show go back to what Jeff said before Ep. 1...it wasn't a homerun, but a base hit. It wasn't the greatest, but for the most part it was entertaining (up until the end.) Also, RJ mentioned from Ep. 1 that he worried that the budget would be bigger, but the writing would suck and that's exactly how I feel about S2. Last episode, I asked about the manga because initially, I thought the writers/showrunners copped out due to the sudden success of S1. I always knew there'd be a S2, but it seems like they broke away from their original element to cater more to Western viewers. I'm interested in the manga bc it is a cool concept, but oftentimes, shows will take the main plot & characters but erase/change many aspects. I worried that maybe they ruined the show just like how GOT was ruined because the author hadn't finished the series. But it's whatever now. I feel like S3 would be a complete money grab...I'd only be interested if they were able to tie up loose ends and bring the show full circle. Overall, great reaction as usual! If y'all need some romcom recs to relax (especially with starting The Glory) y'all can hit me up! ❤️

Before I say anything else, I want to share this amazing side-by-side comparison of the Shibuya crossing scene/Meteor between season 1 and 2: https://youtu.be/TI6I5BXh-FU Amazing that the team filmed this all in one take all the way back from season 1! Anyway, it was so much fun seeing your reactions to the entire season! I had very similar thoughts between EP 7 and 8. Like I knew this show is basically supposed to be "live action anime" since it's based on a manga, but even my suspension of disbelief was getting tested when all these characters with multiple bullet and stab wounds to vital organs still stayed living. But then the *true* reveal put everything in perfect context. Just like you guys said, it suddenly made sense how these people pulled through despite such fatal wounds. And I love how it got so philosophical about life haha. The games themselves were just a reflection of how harsh and cruel the real world is, and so the characters had to constantly wrestle with them... basically within their own minds, they had to decide if they wanted to continue living or not. Even though so much death and cruelty occurred, there were also such touching moments (i.e. Tatta's sacrifice, Kuzuryu's sacrifice for Nike lol), so all the survivors came out knowing there are good things despite all the bad and subconsciously conclude that life is worth living. Love how you guys pointed out the real life stories of survivors in accidents beating impossible odds. As someone who has severe neurological/chronic illness, I've seen plenty of people in the hospital with bad prognosis or outcomes because they couldn't see any hope/find any reason to continue living. And vice versa in how people who hang on mentally, optimistic rather than cynical, are able to push through physical death. It's also true that a number of irl people who have had "death" experiences (medically you're considered dead if your heart stops for extended period) don't necessarily remember the thoughts/experience they had while they were in the "borderlands," but they faintly feel like something happened. Overall I'm really happy with the ending we got, because if it *did* turn out to be one of the reasons Mira made up, I would've thought of that as so much more cliche since so many movies, shows, and video games have told that kind of story already. Thanks so much for the amazing reactions and really glad you guys enjoy this ending in hindsight/post-watch analysis! :)

LadyVirgilia

I’m still laughing from your confusion on the choices 😂 Very entertaining y’guys, thanks!

ojochan

Tatta didn't survive the games so he died in real life as well. Amazing journey with you guys, thank you! Also please check out the suspense kdrama Mouse if it’s possible (though it’s a bit long)..I swear it is a must watch!😭

Krystian

You should def react to some promotional/behind the scenes content like you did for other show. Here’s an interview: https://youtu.be/aKf-nPqrTW4 Here’s a behind the scenes interview: https://youtu.be/JUJJFyC9y3o They’re both rather short so def worth a watch.

strange& sleepless

Thank you for these comments, I haven't watched their reaction yet, but this makes a lot more sense. I thought this was based on a manga but a lot of times the TV production changes a lot of aspects to make it more popular. I don't really read manga, but I'd be interested in reading this one.

mscurlsncurves

i love this but if they did do a season three then they could either 1 go off the manga which is called Alice in borderland retry where we see Alice again in borderlands. Or 2 they can go off the manga and do two more games with both joke cards. I will say this apreantly in the manga people say the joke card is suppose to be the FarryMan.

Makayla Smith

btw if yall wanna see the actor for Karube again you should watch Cherry Magic :D

Sal

and don't worry you guys are the second set of youtubers that misunderstood the choices part but clarity came around when Arisu responded as well so I thought that was funny.

Sal

I'm with you there Toby, I believe all the fake scenarios. I've said it on kdrama videos but RJ really need to start writing for these shows lol. I'm also satisfied with how they wrapped it up and explains a lot of things we had issues with in the previous episode(s). I think it's so rare a show manages to improve on their first season and they did that and made a good ending.

Sal

+ Nobody could tell all these dead people that they are dead because it would hinder them and fuck up their will

Moon

I REALLY like that it came full circle. My favorite little piece is that none of the game masters were able to give them an answer as to if they would be able to go back to the real world or not because all in all it was their choice when the time came.

Moon

You guys had me dying when you misunderstood everyones choice to stay or not at the end 🤣🤣

victoria heyer

Crochet is like knitting except you only use 1 needle. Croquet (crow-kay) is what the queen of hearts played in the book & movie Alice in Wonderland.

Janice Lett

Loved this! Been with yall since season 1 and its crazy to finish it like this.

Starling

Oh lol nvm you guys are already reacting to it !! it’s a good one for sure

humbleandkindness

Oh, running to watch this! I had some THOUGHTS about this ending.

Marnie Salvani

I’ve been watching you guys react to this show since the first episode, and I couldn’t wait to have the last episode released on YouTube lol,, now that you’re done with this one, are you looking for new shows to react to? The Glory is a new one on Netflix that’s got me dying to watch the next season

humbleandkindness

Oh haha I totally forgot about that. It does make sense. She was in the shower when the lights went out.

Ashlei Arceneaux

The only reason I think she wasn’t was because she was a bit busy in a hotel when the meteor hit, so it wouldn’t have made sense to see her out on the street. I do wish we could’ve seen her one last time though

humbleandkindness

oh yes! ann lived because if you noticed the camera stayed on flip flop and anns hands when they touched flip flop said lets go together. it actually brought her back and thats the reason in the real life she got "revived" because she littrarly was dead basically lol interesting but u know nice seeing that ann made it

respect

you guys was so confused everytime and so wrong many times it was funny. at first i was like its so obvious but then when you guys said your ideas i could understand the confusion. - basically the ppl in that cross walk many of them had their hearts stopped the boarder lands was between life and death if they died in the game they actually died in real life. the ending let them choose to live or stay in the boarderlands (probably game masters/makers) as you saw there was previous people in the boarder lands before and it was confusing its because those was probably ppl whos heart did stop a long time ago and they chose to be there and have been stuck there many of which was happy to finally die now lol. tata btw died idk if you forgot yes he lost his arm but they fully buried him and he was bled out. the ending im pre sure was just a confirmation that boarderlands existed and that its still happening etc and there could be an opening for more seasons. its left to interoperation but most see it has that

respect

I didn't believe any of the fake scenarios. LOL Toby believes everything. The first season had better games but I like season 2 better

Anais

What if the last 30 mins was just a firework show then a dance number.

Anthony 임종철

The ending is reaaaally cool when you get it. I’ve read around and apparently the minute where they were doing the games, was the border between life and death - hence Alice in borderland. It was basically them fighting for their lives and those with the will to live were the ones who survived. Also, the joker might have a been a reference to life as Mira said in the end “life is like a game”, so the joker is their final game which is life

Sallie Andrea

Ok now I can properly comment lol. I didn’t understand the ending at all at first. I was just as confused as y’all 😂😂! But then when I realized that the “borderlands” is the border between life and death…it all made sense. Life is a game and this was you deciding if playing was worth it. Never would have saw that being the reasoning honestly. I’m not mad at it though 🤷🏽‍♀️Also it made sense why Anne only saw mountains out of the city area because they were only technically in the area that got destroyed. And it also makes sense why everyone disappeared when they went it the bathroom in the first episode. That’s when the meteor hit. I do wish they would have showed homegirl from season one that also died in S1 E3.

Ashlei Arceneaux

I would say I prefer the games in season 1 better but the storyline this season was better. It ties everything together really well. Also, as RJ said, it really gives creative insight into what people go through when they are fighting for their lives and why some people come out with a new perspective on life. The borderlands were definitely the place between life and death. Everyone's heart stopped as hinted by arisu's brother and Nike. I think it was all real so that's why some characters feel a connection with others but nobody knew each other in real life before they "died." So, when they came back to life, they still didn't know each other but only had a slight feeling of familiarity. I definitely feel like this season could have been longer and did more story-building outside of the games, especially with the relationships. They hinted at things vaguely here and there but more would have been nice. I haven't read the manga before but I see people talk about the things they took out which seemed interesting. Overall, great season. 9.3/10 for me.

Barbara Mcfadden

To Jeff’s point on the tugging on heart strings: just like the manga it’s a bit tongue in cheek and visualizing popular fan theories (aliens, future, etc.). And RJ’s summary is spot-on. Their experiences were “real” in Borderland in that it was their subconscious deciding whether to stay AND what kind of life you will live if you do stay (alive). I thought it was a beautiful ending and I’m glad guys appreciate that aspect of it after so much action and thrills for two seasons. What do you think happened to the two who decided to stay in Borderland in the real world?

Podcast Fandom Premium

What I really liked about this show is how they hinted that they were in the borderline between life and death. In season 1 and 2, they kept saying/asking "what does life really mean to you" "what's the point of trying when there's nothing left for you in the other world." This is such a perfect ending for this show and explains a lot about why they were playing these games. You either fight to live or give up to die.

Nina1110

It’s way more obvious in the manga what is happening (I think) because there is a lot of focus on being a good person, not taking life for granted, etc. Arisu, Chota, and Karube were kinda pieces of shit in the manga. Like, using puddles to look up girls’ skirts pieces of shit.

Podcast Fandom Premium

Couple of things: Nike was/is a doctor. Jeff was right; borderland was the border between life and death. Tobi was right in that it’s their will to live which kept them alive in the last episode and even some events in S1 (Aguni/Niragi). Tatta died. His name was on the news. All those names on the news were people we met in Borderland. The manga is really good.

Every time RJ calls croquet “crochet”…. 😂😂😂

Every damn time y’all say “we dumb as hell” I cackle. Now I gotta find that reaction y’all did where you each something wrong and you edited in “STUPID” after each one. 😂
