Washing our store bought Raichu plush

ENGLISH/ESPAÑOL

Hello everybunny!

In a couple of days we will post the big clodsire finished, it turned out beautiful and we want to take some photos and prepare the sewing instructions.
But today we want to show you a small personal project we've done in our free time. We have shown old plush repair and/or pattern modifications (like the Pokemon Center Inteleon plush). It's something that, despite not taking as commissions often, we enjoy doing a lot. This time, we've worked with Cris' comfort plush. It's a raichu from the Pokemon Yurutto collection. It's made of mochi fabric, it's very soft and they sleep with him every night. That's why, after time, it's gotten dirty and worn out. So we decided to give him a deep cleaning.

First, we emptied it. We already saw that the mochi stuffing was flattened and clustered, so we would stuff it with new stuffing when finished. The only parts we didn't empty were the front paws and the tail because those were stuffed before being sewn to the body.
Once unstuffed, we washed it with detergent inside a barrel with room temperature water, rubbing the fabric with each other to clean it properly. Since it's hand washed, it's important to wash and rinse it several times. We want to remove any dirt and soap that may be left.

After washing and rinsing it, we squished it gently, trying to remove as much water as possible. To dry it, we left it in the clothes rack, but not hanging, we let it horizontal, as flat as possible to avoid any residual wetness. We left it inside our home, because direct sun could damage the fabric.

It took several days, but once it was 100% dry, we fixed some of the darts that were pointy, specially the one in the chin. It's the same we did to Inteleon's tummy.

And finally you have some photos of the before and after washing it! He recovered the intense colors he had at the beginning, and he also looks more round and squishy. Also, the darts look better now. We could've washed it in the washing machine, but apart from being special, by unstuffing it we made sure that there was no humidity left inside. And stuffing flattens with time, so we wanted to change it as well.
We hope that this post helps you if you want to wash your plushies someday ^^

What do you think? It looks like a radiant new raichu~

----ESPAÑOL----

Hello everybunny!

I love the picture poking his head out of the soap, he looks like he's enjoying his bath 🥰

💜💜💜

Thank you so much Winged!! 🥺

This is such a beautiful project to work on! I love how sentimental it is, and it turned out like new! I'm really impressed by how you were able to restore it. It's motivational for some of my old plushies haha. The Raichu is also such a cute plushie!! ❤

Yes, that makes perfect sense!! I think unstuffing first might result in a more thorough cleaning too, especially hand washed. Im eager to try this out suddenly hehe

Thanks!! You can refluff the old stuffing by separating the fibers yourself. It's time consuming but it works. We reuse all the stuffing from prototypes (both regular and mochi) this way ^^ We used new stuffing because the old was too dirty. But since you've machine washed it then it's clean. We just don't trust our washing machine, it's very old, so we prefer to hand wash anything delicate

Omg, i love seeing him all renewed and rejuvinated!! I have special squishmallow plush that i sleep with every night and ive been thinking of doing the same. Theyve been machine washed a few times but the stuffing is all lumpy now... been thinking about changing it out but mochi stuffing is SO hard to find. Do you know if lumpy mochi stuffing be rejuvinated too? Or is completely brand new the best?

it was very clean. Ready to compete with bad dreams
