The word, "Hatsumode", literally means βthe first (hatsu) shrine visit (mode)β, so in essence hatsumode is to visit a shrine (or temple) to pray for good luck for the new year. During Hatsumode, police officers line the streets to protect worshippers.
Oh well, firstly I must apologize. Due to some deadline issues, I couldn't have finished this work in time. I'm going to upload the with-text ver. after tomorrow, so please forgive me. I drew this picture because I wanted to play a prank on the policemen in winter coats. These mischievous drunks will mess with the stern looking diligent policeman!
Anyway...
