I finished off the piece I previewed yesterday with more detail, and did a few more quick sketches testing the shiny style. Canary's black shiny pants were heavily inspired by a dress her performer wore at the Birds of Prey premiere, the different panels of the pants and the reflection of what might be a red carpet set it apart from the rest.
I have to admit I get a weird dysphoria looking at those two sketches together, like they don't feel like my own drawings. For many years I tried to replicate that style, and even a month or two ago I drew Kodi, laying on her back, her legs raised in what I was sure was the best drawn shiny pants I'd done. Somehow these two with a few brush strokes of the lightpen feels real, three dimensional, like I could reach out and touch them. I don't want to seem like I'm having some delusion or breakdown at 5 AM but it surprises me I coloured something that looks that good by my eye.
The Harley Quinn backside also feels like I didn't draw it somehow. There's an artist called Misterjer whose own style felt like that a few years ago, and drew Harley Quinn quite a bit. The idea occurred to me as I finished, maybe I could finish it off and draw the rest of the Harley, so I might.
The Magik is simple, and the final sketch of a more built Thirteenth Doctor was a silly joke you all get to enjoy. That's what The Emporium does to you I guess.
Thank you for reading and supporting, it means a lot, should have some fun stuff this next week.
