Stacy Lynn Character Profile
Added 2023-11-08 04:45:38 +0000 UTCStacy Lynn
22 years old, July 19th
Interests - Stacy starts off as a shallow person who enjoys stereotypical girly things like fashion, reality television, social media, and pop music. She will broaden her interests as she develops as a character. She has a secret passion that she doesn't really talk to anyone about, that being photography. She likes capturing beauty but is embarrassed about the whole white girl Instagram photographer cliché and thinks that all of her work is trite. Doesn't see much value in her talent. Stacy is also fairly athletic, having been the cheerleading captain in high school and also a good dancer.
Personality - Bitchy. She's the obligatory high school bully with a redemption arc planned, so she doesn't start off as the nicest character. She's mean and dismissive, but both Oliver and Mia acknowledge she is way better than she used to be and doesn't openly antagonize other people the way that she used to. Most of her meanness nowadays is kept to minor barbed comments and sarcastic responses. Most of her personality is a defense mechanism to push people away because she's afraid of having connections, an unfortunate side effect of her upbringing. She felt weak and powerless, so it made her feel good to trample on others and only settled down halfway through high school because of a traumatic incident.
Deep down, she is a very lonely person who wants to be loved yet doesn't trust anyone.
Appearance - Stacy has light blonde hair cut short and wavy, is 5'6ft, and has a slender yet curvy body. D cup breasts, smaller than Zoe. Partial to makeup and tends to wear eyeshadow and thick pink lipstick. Thick lashes. She has blue eyes, not light and not dark, just blue. Piercings on both ears and her belly button, likes jewelry. Her wardrobe is wide and she wears all kinds of trendy outfits. Sometimes she uses wigs and hair extensions, too. Favorite color is pink so a lot of her outfits are coordinated around it.
Family - Stacy ran away from home the second she turned eighteen. Her father was a doctor and is now in jail while her mother works at a beauty salon. They were a very strict Christian household in contrast to Mia's more relaxed family, it will give them something to bond over. I will describe what made them so bad in her background below, but it's important to note that Stacy officially disowned them.
She has a pair of foster parents who took care of her from the age of sixteen to eighteen. They are ordinary boring people who can't have a child of their own and have fostered a few kids in their time. They care for Stacy but she keeps them at a distance because of her issues, which is ripe for being another part of her character development. Not going to spend too much time thinking about what these people are like right now since they won't be relevant for a long time.
She also had a sister four years older than her named Mary who killed herself when Stacy was only sixteen.
---
Stacy had a very bad childhood. Putting it bluntly, she and her older sister were pageant kids. Her mother and father paraded their daughters out in front of the stage and dolled them up, guilting them with scripture and Bible verses whenever they didn't listen. Stacy was always compared to her more submissive and controllable sister, with her parents often putting her down for being more independent. Her father was physically abusive.
As a child she grew sensitive to all of the creepy people staring at her and judging her like a piece of meat, and she now knows that a lot of her family friends were a little too 'friendly' with her. Mainly kisses and wandering hands, nothing extreme, thankfully. The pageant stuff also gave Stacy body issues as well as a psychological need to always look pretty and perfect under fear of punishment. She does genuinely like fashion and makeup, but it's a passion that's been tarnished by bad memories that she will have to overcome. Its a form of cognitive dissonance.
As stated before, her lack of control in life led her to have a mean personality in school where she enjoyed taking out all of her stress on anyone who annoyed her. It was all about power and control for her. She significantly toned it down out of grief once Mary took her own life.
The sisters were close most of the time, but Stacy still had resentment for her because Mary was the favorite. She didn't understand what was happening to Mary behind the scenes, and you can imagine it wasn't pretty. Before she killed herself, Mary prepared a big flash drive of proof and made sure Stacy got it in a way that wouldn't draw suspicion. It revealed the details of her sisters abuse as well as her father's role in it.
Stacy brought it to the police. It was more than enough evidence to get him convicted and for Stacy to get put in foster care. Her mother seemingly wasn't in on it but it was deemed better for Stacy to be taken out of her care anyway since she was already psychologically abusive. She was out of school for two months while the system took care of her- something that will be alluded to by Mia- and that was the time her personality shifted and she stopped being such a huge bully.
She was fortunate enough to get a decent foster family who took care of her until she graduated high school, but Stacy walled herself off from getting too emotionally attached to them. She doesn't trust other people, and is always looking for the worst in them because that's all they've ever shown her. Stacy moved out the second she was eighteen but she still has infrequent contact with her foster family. They occasionally text her a few times a week to make sure she's doing okay and Stacy is polite enough to respond, occasionally even visiting or staying the night there if it's convenient for her.
Because of how badly she wanted to be independent, Stacy started selling nudes of herself online. The difference between her and Zoe is that Zoe doesn't care, whereas Stacy is only doing what she was raised to do- show off, exploit herself, and be a little whore- in her own words. She's been doing it for four years and has a pretty big following. There's something to be said about how used to exploiting herself she is and it'll be definitely be part of the story.
Since she hates it, Stacy still works a part-time job at Payless Foods, where she was reunited with Mia and Oliver.
Stacy does not know the extent of how bad her bullying ruined Oliver's life but if she did know she would definitely regret it and probably even apologize. She's more neutral with Mia, the two mostly ignoring each other. It was only an isolated incident that saw her making fun of Mia, but neither of them have made a big deal about working together. There is a lot of one-sided distaste on Mia's part, though and the two will develop a mutual understanding as they get closer because of Oliver.
She and Tessa get along decently enough. Tessa gets the sense that they have a lot in common in some ways so she's admittedly a little soft on Stacy even in situations where she probably shouldn't be.
Stacy currently lives in a trailer park outside city limits where she rents one at a lower price than she would an apartment. Although it's embarrassing, it's not actually that bad of a place to live and I think it would be nice if her neighbors appeared like they were redneck trash but were actually a wholesome community. It will just be another trashy secret for Oliver to uncover and humanize her a little more.
---
Stacy will either be the third or the fourth girl that Oliver pursues, leaning towards the fourth but I don't have a solid third planned out yet. It's just that Mia and Zoe are passionate and bitchy respectively so following those two up with someone weaker and more submissive makes sense to me especially when Tessa would presumably come afterwards.
Stacy starts out with negative affection towards Oliver, not because of a personal dislike for him but because she doesn't trust anyone to begin with.
There are a lot of roadblocks which will make pursuing her a difficult challenge. The first major is that he'll need to have a decent style stat to move past the negative affection phase and start working up to the first heart event. Stacy requires a lot of trial and error, because she's particular and doesn't trust people by default, so a lot of actions that work on other girls would come off as insincere in her eyes. She thinks he wants something from her as he gets closer to her.
Additionally, Stacy has never been in a relationship because of these trust issues. When she actually started having feelings for him, it's going to majorly throw her off.
The way their relationship unfolds will see Oliver learning more of the context about her life, the reasons she ended up this way, and her first steps at recovery. With Oliver's help she will wrestle with her body issues, come to terms with a lot of her abuse, grow closer to her foster family, and ultimately retire from exploiting herself to focus on her photography.
He isn't magic and she is still going to be prickly after he's fully won her heart, but her loyalty to him is fierce. It's getting along with the others that will prove the real challenge for her. I don't think she and Zoe are going to get along very well- but in a funny way where they're always making sharp comments at each other.
