Never mind about not getting a major plot line of the last episode on first viewing; nobody's perfect. Loving watching all of my favourites with such a lovely couple. For sitcoms OFAH is my number 1 and Extras, Peep Show, Phoenix Nights and The IT Crowd are all in my top 8. I love SBC too.

2025-10-07 18:48:19 +0000 UTCI recommend 'That Peter Kay Thing' it was his first tv show, there are 7 episodes where he concentrates on various characters in a mockumentary style. One focuses on Brian Potters previous club and acts as a kind of pilot for phoenix nights. You also get a glimpse as to why the dss were investigating him 😉👍 thoroughly recommend it. As well as potter's episode. there's also an ice cream seller, one about a bingo hall and a reality pop singer. There're all great and really showcases what a talent he would go on to be.

The young girl, Mary, behind the bar that Paddy was chatting up was played by Sian Gibson, you probably saw clips of her in Peter Kay's Car Share, the 'dogging one' I think, where she co-stars as Kayleigh. In that clip she asks the bloke walking his dog about it, he's also Kenny (senior) in Phoenix Nights, the compulsive liar character - 'played swingball with Robert De Niro on a camping holiday', 'played tennis on Wimbledon Centre Court', 'fought in Vietnam', etc.

I’m far more tolerant these days and enjoy the odd reminder. Margaret Thatcher even quoted Python’s dead parrot sketch at a party conference and brought the house down. It later emerged that she didn’t understand the joke, which had been inserted by a speech writer.

Very different, but I remember the late former England footballer Kevin Beattie being done for falsely claiming £9k in unemployment benefit after finding a job. In his case it didn’t require an under-cover agent snooping on him because his job was football co-comms on BBC radio. Not the brightest.

And when I came out , I had fraud investigators following me around for a few months recording me and following me and I had no clue. When we went to court, they prevented the evidence and tried to say I was faking because I was trying to stand up 😆 and I could drive (with hand controls) which they didn’t know I used. So they took it I was using my feet to drive with. Anyway, it was thrown out of court because there was tons of evidence that I had snapped my back in 3 places , severed my spinal cord and would never walk again. But it really does happen. I mean who is going to pretend to be disabled and use a chair just to receive £110 a week?

If he had been lying about his disability, that might be a reason, but the show makes it pretty clear that he genuinely can't walk.
