The Ricky Gervais Show - S3E2 'Comic Relief'

Comments

One thing I would say, is you should leave the credits in the background at the end.

“Where’s your brother?” “He died” 😭😂😂😂

Kayleigh

That's as maybe, but given that democracies are imperfect institutions, charities exist to fulfil a function, which is to meet the lacuna left by governments.

Paul08031977

Did you see the record Stephen picked up in the charity shop?

Paul08031977

We need moaning of life by Karl Pilkington reaction 🤣

Dan Anderson

who's let you in?

mwdoom

I like to think I'm rather good at getting bargains. Theres a charity that started up near me that sells food for cheap that people/businesses donate, and I used to donate lots of random boxes of various things I got on misprices to them. It was always nice seeing the stuff I gave them being purchased by people. I gave em 60 big bars of Lindt chocolate I got once and they used them to make cheap hampers for people at Christmas, that was nice to see.

Danny

Charity shops don't accept underwear, unless its sealed new stuff, for hygiene purposes. I think they do take bras though

Danny

To be fair to Karl charity shops will sell things like pants and socks for rag production so they still get some funds from his sweaty pants

Aaron Page

Charity is just a failure of governments.

Wilss

What's the notification then? 🤔

It was strange at the start when Jess just started vibing. We didn't hear anything from the phone. haha. Also, Red Nose Day (Comic Relief) was what they were doing in the last episode of The Office you reacted to, with all the red noses and charity stuff.

Karlos

How much goes to the charities? From what you've read I mean.

Karlos

Controversial - I agree with Karl and loved that Ricky and Steve brought a comedy element into the subject. I used to give to Comic Relief every year, I also used to give monthly to other UK-based charities. Then I started to read about the mega-high salaries the CEOs/Managers of these charities receive, and how little of the contributions go to the actual cause. I now give to small local charities, where I know my contributions are benefiting the cause, not some wealthy CEO.

Karina Bailey

The thing with Karl's charity idea is that there's fewer problems as the years go on. If starvation ended they'd be open to more opportunities in their lives because they're not worrying about where the next meal is coming from. Some of those who are helped will be able to apply themselves to other issues. Obviously it's not that simple but his idea makes sense in theory.

If we look back through history, the UK, or more specifically London, was the epicentre of multiculturism and trade in the world. In some respects it still is today, but America definitely is a very multicultural country too. Comparing the two isn't worthwhile or useful but fundraising and helping charities is something we have in common.

Kippa

Feel like the uk is more multi cultural than america and comic relief is still a thing but I may be wrong.

Yippee, an early dose of Jess' laughter, just what we all need to brighten our day

buster

Thank you for this guys 🤗 No that didn't pick up. I just assumed that Jess had wind for a seconds 🫣
