Lanille Peacethorn Bio
Added 2021-09-16 05:47:11 +0000 UTCThis character has been mentioned in all of the bios of Ghorza's party. She is not a character I sold to Mizako, I own her, but she's important to writing his commissioned story so I needed to have a bio sheet on her for my own uses.
I think she has a lot of potential, so I don't know what will end up happening with her just yet. We'll have to see how her appearance goes in Ghorza's story.

The Guild Mistress of the Hunnihome Adventurer's Guild
Age 37
Appearance - Very curvy, wide hips, large breasts, bit heavy, wears low-cut dresses often with a thorn motif to suit her House. She has straight dirty-blonde hair that she often wears in a bun. and kind, brown eyes. Looks to be in her late twenties because of all the alchemical beauty products she uses.
Background - The daughter of a very minor noble house of Echora, House Peacethorn. Her father was a knight who served House Appledale, and her mother owns a bakery. Lanille's father was singled out for his bravery during the Young Lion Rebellion, and for his service, Duke Appledale granted him a peerage as well as a small estate to call his own. Lanille was raised as if she were a commoner, though, so such status never went to her head. She has a younger brother, who is happily married to another Echoran noblewoman. She has two nieces and two nephews, all of whom Lanille spoils rotten. They can often be found visiting Lanille at the Guild. Technically speaking, Lanille's proper title is Lady Peacethorn, but she doesn't like it when people treat her like nobility.
A kind, slightly-chubby older woman who has been the Guild Mistress at Hunnihome since she was only twenty years old, a remarkably young age for a professional Guild Mistress. She always admired adventurers and convinced her family to allow her to get a part-time job as a serving girl at the Guild when she was fourteen. Lanille proved immensely popular to the adventurers thanks to her smile and her particular brand of hospitality. It wasn't long until the previous Guild Mistress sensed serious potential in her. She recommended Lanille to the Association's training program when she turned sixteen, and Lanille excelled there in just about every regard. At eighteen, she returned to Hunnihome to serve as an assistant GM, until it was passed down to her only two years later when her predecessor retired.
Since then, Hunnihome has unquestionably kept its spot as one of the most essential Guilds in all of Karnalle, thanks in no small part to Lanille's skills at managing her adventures and negotiating high-paying quests for her Guild. The Association couldn't be happier with her profit margin, albeit this profit-first mentality has taken a significant toll on Lanille's mental health over the years.
Lanille is both loved and feared by all who work under her, and she always has been. She can strike fear into her adventurers with as little as a smile, and even the strongest warriors in the Realm report Lanille terrifies them. Luckily, she's very forgiving to those who cross over onto her wrong side and tries to give everyone a chance to change their ways. In a way, she treats all of her adventurers like her children. She takes a very hands-on approach to guiding them very unlike many other modern GMs who purposefully distance themselves from the talent and leave taking care of their needs to the staff. Lanille is comparable to the Guild Master of Dewhurst in this regard, and the two are cut from the same cloth.
Although she has a reputation for being kind and loving to all, Lanille struggles with the ethics of her job on a near-daily basis. She's forced to follow the Association's abusive policies whether she likes it or not, basically making her lead her adventurers into bad situations or selling them overpriced adventuring tools as long as it means there's profit to be had. She does all she can to prevent this, but it's just something that can't be avoided once corporate is breathing down your neck over a lack of profits. It's also led her down a path of stress eating, although living in Hunnihome certainly doesn't help when you're trying to lose weight, what with its abundance of delicious food available on every corner.
To help offset the damage her career inflicts on her adventurers, she tries to spoil them in any way she can. Sometimes in exceptional cases, she even helps them out of her own pocket, footing the bill for healers under the table or offering to help struggling adventurers with Association fees if they can't make their payments on time. She's earned a lot of leeway with the Association, so she can stretch out due dates on services for her adventurers since the AoA trusts her to get them to pay up at some point. They are aware that she helps her adventurers financially but don't care. As long as they get their money, they're not going to stop her from using her salary how she wants.
Deep down, Lanille has a lot of self-hatred for herself thanks to all the shady things her job makes her do. She has loads of friends but very few people she can actually confide in. Ultimately, she justifies her actions by reminding herself that if she doesn't do her job, the Association will likely just replace her with someone who will and that GM could potentially be a lot worse than she ever was.
Romantically, Lanille has only ever had brief flings in the past and views herself as expired goods despite her stunning good looks. More than a chunk of her income goes towards alchemical beauty products to stave off aging, but it's mostly for her self-esteem instead of helping her trying to actively find someone. Her elderly, retired father tries setting up arranged marriages with other noble families. Still, a thirty-seven-year-old woman isn't the most appealing prospect, so she refuses to attend most of these.
Also, on the subject of romance, Lanille has a habit of interfering in her adventurer's love lives. She's hooked up countless members of her Guild and thus far has had a 100% track record of success with them. She can be a little nosy about it, often sticking her nose in wherever she smells a whiff of fun to be had. Lanille refrains from helping unless she's explicitly asked, though. It’s just that she enjoys living vicariously through the affairs of her adventurers. This also manifests in her interest in cheap, trashy romance novels. Sometimes she leaves her books all over the Guild and pretends they aren't hers.
Lanille enjoys other hobbies, such as baking and cooking. She's often right there in the Guild's kitchens alongside her staff, helping prepare dinner and snacks, at least whenever she isn't buried in paperwork. Her specialty is cookies, cakes, and other pastries, but Lanille is great at cooking just about anything. Her favorite food is pie of any kind.
The Mistress is also famous for her low tolerance of alcohol. It takes very little to get her drunk, and when she is, Lanille is very exaggeratedly tipsy, nosy and will complain or sob over her life as a single woman at the drop of a hat. She loves sweet and fruity wine, but her staff and her adventurers do their best to ensure Lanille never has access to any. Again, this is Hunnihome we're talking about, so preventing her from getting sweet wine is easier said than done.
