Perfumare - first draft + schedule (of sorts)

• First draft info:

Some of you already know that Perfumare was supposed to be a demo, a prequel to Perfumare2. I wanted to try writing something short (hah) and simple so that I could focus on learning how to code before starting a ‘real’ project.

The main plot was basically an extended dream sequence (chapter 2), the main objective - escape the dream and don’t get caught by the SPD (our 2 favorite assholes). Except the officer sent to catch the MC was… Flavio. Yup. Laurent was... indisposed. It wasn’t the only major difference. Jewel, for example, was a Shapeshifter (a white rabbit à la Alice in Wonderland, hence the corresponding color), and Reed, for the most of it, was present only as a voice.

Laurent was a RO in the sequel (Pefumare2) along with Nino and Maverick. Yep, you could’ve had Max instead of Alan. But I wanted a RO who’s not working with the SPD, so I decided to switch them.

Now, the plot of Perfumare2 remains largely unchanged, save for some minor details. Perfumare on the other hand has a lot of scenes missing, since it’s still barely more than a teaser of the text-based version. The things I cut will appear in the IF though. Like ‘madness points’ aka ‘fatigue points’ - using your affliction has consequences after all.

Well, Perfumare (VN) shows only the key points of the main plot and only one branch of the story (well, 3 kinda, but you know what I mean). It’s a good thing I did this actually, because I discovered that I have no chill, and every time a scene changes I want to add more BGs and CGs, which, yeah, if I did that you’d have to wait ages for a new chapter. And since the IF version is text-only, it’ll be much easier (and faster, I hope) for me to manage.

Also, writing a script for a Visual Novel is way different than I thought it’d be. Technically, the script should be more focused on the dialogue, but that’s not my thing, I like descriptions. Either way, it’s fun.

I was hoping to create a steady posting schedule but because of covid I really can’t. I'll still try to post at least once a week. ✌️

So, this month I am trying to figure out how to tackle the extra stories (or DLC, if you will).  Because of all the variants and stuff I need to code them into the game, but I can't decide between Twine and Ren’Py yet. 😠

Aside from that, I am working on Jewel’s route first. As for the extras, the order is as follows:

Confessions: Reed’s, Jewel’s and Laurent’s POV.

First meeting: Jewel and Laurent (MC’s POV).
