[1.4] Overhaul 5.0 BETA 1
Added 2021-02-27 14:10:02 +0000 UTCHeya! Here comes the first (of many) beta releases for 5.0 Overhaul for 1.4 tModLoader (which will be included with every release.) These will be released for patrons every time I add or reimplement a feature or a part of it, and will turn public one week after their posting. Everyone can also just compile the mod themselves, as the 1.4 version is open source.
-== What's in there? ==-
5.0 is a rebuild of the mod. Not a complete rewrite, but a partial one. I've started from scratch, and then started moving in features one by one while ensuring good-to-godly code quality for them. So we're starting with (relatively) quite a few features:
- (!) Jump key buffering and a new addition: forced-on auto-jump.
- (!) New and improved NPC blood and gore.
- (!) Improved grappling hook swinging physics.
- (!) New and improved decals.
- (!) Now-automatic gun overhauls with improved audio, screenshake, and bullet/shell casings.
- Camera improvements.
- Footstep sounds.
- Movement changes.
- Bunnyhopping.
- Players facing the mouse cursor.
- Velocity-based rotation for players.
- Walljumps and wallrolls.
- Climbing.
- Melee weapons audio.
- Other things.
There are not many gameplay changes aside movement, but you'll still very much feel like it's Overhaul.

Windows tModLoader (1.4_mergedtesting / 86b94b4): nightly.link
( NOT AN OFFICIAL TMODLOADER RELEASE OR BETA )
If there are any Mac/Linux users here - let me know. Maybe there's a point in setting up Github Actions to build for those systems too.
Mod Installation: Extract the .tmod file into the following directory:

-== How do I report issues? ==-
The best way is to create an issue on Github. If you do - I'll never blindly forget about it. Don't forget to mention either 5.0 or 1.4 in its name or description.
Alternatively, if you're feeling lazy or not sure about something, you can just ping me in the '1_4-testing' channel of Overhaul's Discord. I can help with any issues, not just Overhaul's.
-== How can/may I contribute? ==-
You can contribute by doing pull requests to the '1.4' branch on Github. Will require some basic understanding of source control tools.
It is quite tricky to help me with reimplementations due to the 1.3 version's source code being closed (it's just ugly and that's all there is to it), but it would be nice to get help with the following:
- Programming: Look at the 1.4 milestone on GitHub.
- Art: If you're an artist - random sprite improvements could be good, if the improvements are objective. I would also like to update the logo, though there already were some attempts by a few people.
- Translations: Very soon there will be many strings available for localization. And it'll finally stop being a mess due to open source.

I'm happy to announce that I am now a full member of TML's development team, after working on 1.4 TML since its very beginning. Cool beans, I guess this makes my Github Profile 5.71% more epic.
Thank you everyone for your continued support. I'd be nowhere right now without it, with the horrible state my country is in.
