big strives made!
we've got all the basic costume layers for most of the body parts done.
only the chest to go, but it's taking longer with splitting everything in two.
plus, most of the old costumes use loads of straight cross-lines that'll just look broken if I dont do it right. (like, I cant just cut a tie in half and hope it'll work out..)
anyways, I've planned out all the secret floating layers I'll need to get it things looking good - which is still the biggest thing stopping me from getting right into the animations.
also, yay! the code base is actually functional again!
it might sound dumb .. and it would be, if things were still "gotoAndStop" ezpz mode. but things turns into a giant headache when it's all about tracking down renames and typos in a giant system that creates, holds, reads and shifts numbers around a giant roster before finally spitting out what's meant to go where.
technobabble aside, it just means I only need to check the one new spot when something breaks from now on. woo!
moving ahead, I think it's all looking alright. the only tough thing left is how I'm gonna deal with the eyes.
I want to have an all-in-one animated set that I can line up with all the different heads, but if that gets too annoying, I can scrap all that and make easy per-head variant sets like I'm gonna do with hairs.
(so each head gets its own collection of hairdos and facial options, because hell NO am I gonna even try fitting everything to every single head. nuh-uh!)
hair and skin colours are gonna use the same system I used for dyes in the fem template and FYC, so that's easy. and I'm already splitting accessories from body layers as I go.
so yup. we're on a roll now :D
