“Jared's man Tae leads us in, all soft, and rich like good chocolate, but Jin, our guy Jin, the ballad king. :swoon: When he comes in I get shivers. Jungkook and Jimin are not slacking though, JK's adlibs and harmonies are prevalent, and Jimin's glorious high notes swirl around the rafters. In the live version [the best imho] the vocal pairing for harmonies are perfectly balanced, and so on point; Taehyung with Seokjin, and Jungkook with Jimin.

The song itself is simple, soft chords, and perfect silences; space for the regret over the missed opportunity for love to sit and fill you. A piano is the only, and often absent, backdrop for the vocal line and the emotion they bring to the lyrics for 3/4 of the song [This is the first time the vocal line brought tears to my eyes]. Then suddenly, the climax of the song is full of instrumentation, with the piano still there under the musical equivalent of crashing/crushing waves of regret. :ompf:

And then that ending...🥹 The song really is perfect. I expect Jared to require both an injection and oxygen.”
