Amendment to last post regarding pricing

Hello again!

Welp, I humbly ask your forgiveness. Patreon does not allow any creator to change the pricing of a tier once it has gone live as long as there are patrons on it. I did not know this, and it is not something easily visible anywhere within their site until actually trying to physically change said price. Therefore, the tier will remain at 5 dollars, because, as I've said, I literally can't change it. I am very sorry to anyone who I worried for nothing. I could delete the last post, but I still stand by the reasoning behind it.

Instead, I will make a new higher tier, offering the same rewards as the 5$ but costing a bit extra for anyone who would like to pledge to it. I already work 6 days a week on Patreon content exclusively and am unsure what perk(s) I can offer for this higher tier presently. It will likely take me a little time to figure this out and update everyone. If you feel like my work is worth the new price point, please consider pledging to it, and if you can't or don't, no worries and no pressure, you will still be able to enjoy my content for 5$. Again, I'm sorry for the confusion.

I appreciate these ideas, Sam! I think there's a lot of merit to them, I just need to think about how to implement them or something similar.

oh, a bit of a change to what I suggested, maybe make it so the 7$ patrons get to suggest/vote on what you draw once or twice a month. that way your not limiting your streams exclusively to voted on projects. also, I think you could do rough sketch's for these voted projects, than later after you have a few sketches, the 7$ patrons could vote on one of the sketches to be a completed project? im not sure, just spitting out ideas.

Sam Ryan

I love that 5$ gets me basically full access to your content, but I do agree with you, it is quite a steal, many artists that I don't consider as talented as you mark their prices much higher, and 5$ won't get near as much. If i can afford it I will likely try to do the 7$. As for suggestions, maybe the 7$ patrons can put suggestions for what you draw on stream, than vote a few days before on a few of your preferred suggestions? Since you can't make it patrons only, that would give the patrons a bit more exclusivity to the stream, if thats what you were going for.

Sam Ryan

Ty for the suggestion! I am trying to consider all of my options. :)

Dude Bulge

Can't you cap the number of patreons on different tiers? Either way, my suggestion for the $7 tier is to perhaps let them make suggestions for one finished piece in a given month and then vote to choose one out of the various suggestions made by patrons on that tier.

No, I don't want to take anything away from people. I am now working on devising an additional higher tier that also offers something new.

Dude Bulge

Is there a difference on tiers now? Like the $5 will lose “rewards”?

Alejandro Robles

Okay. This may seem like a stupid idea but why not create a new poll and check how many people maybe willing to jump to new tier. Also, you can ask in the poll which price for the tier they think is best, based on those results you can find the most optimal pricing tier that is comfortable to both us and you.

I don't think it's reasonable to ask all of my patrons to abandon a tier, and I absolutely do NOT want to ask people to do that, because I don't think it would end well, lol. A higher tier, and asking folks to join it at their speed might be the best, least obtrusive way.

Dude Bulge

That will be a disadvantage to you. Why not ask everyone to empty out the $5 tier and then delete it? I'm not sure but I remember that Freebo23 (another patreon creator that I pledge) deleted a tier. If you can get in touch with them maybe you can solve this problem.

Siddharth Kumar

Tyvm Manny. I agree, I just need to figure this out. I'm not very good about suddenly learning new information and having to react to it. It might take me some time to figure out a new tier situation.

Dude Bulge

New patrons will always have the option of where they want to pledge. The 5$ tier isn't going anywhere or changing price, so I will need to incorporate a new higher tier.

Dude Bulge

What about your new patrons? Do they also get the option to pledge for $5 or will they have to pledge at the new price?

Siddharth Kumar

Stuff changes and as you put more time and effort into your work its only right you'd like/need more returns for your investments. Just let us know when the knew tier goes up

Manny
