Last Human: Episode 5 (Devlog 5)

Hey everyone! Yes I'm sorry, it's been a rather long quiet spell from me since my last post. I've had a lot of rather odd things come up on me at once, so I have been pretty busy.

Cosy Cafe (by Cosy Creator) - First, let me get this out of the way... Many of my followers recommended I try this kinetic AVN, Cosy Cafe. I rarely play these things during development time, but I needed to take a break to clear my head. So, I did and wow, what a great game! Cosy Cafe has you taking on the role of a young man who is trying to reopen his grandfather's old cafe. Sounds like your 'run-of-the-mill' visual novel, right? Well, not really. Along the way, you meet various girls who you end up bringing on to help run the place. Each girl has a very well written and developed character. In fact, the character development here is so spot on that after a while, you could recognize who is talking if you couldn't see the name or image. Each character also has some backstory, including the MC himself, which the story revolves around. His family history comes into play here as he learns that he is the rightful head of one of several families who basically have run the town for many years. This story has everything... bad guys, good guys, happy times, sad times, funny times, and of course, sexy times. Spankings and buttplugs are here as well. Although not really my thing, it's well done. Anyway, I highly recommend giving it a try. It took me a couple of days to get through the large amount of content already here, so should keep you busy for a while!

Alright, now on to my own game, Last Human. Although I had a bit of a slow-down since my last devlog, I am not behind. I think I had pushed and done so much, I just had to stop for a bit and focus on some other things I had going on with family, my house, and my full time job. But I am right back on track with about 30% of the renders completed for episode 5. One of the things that came up during the last few weeks was I noticed an issue with the story in 2 of my scenes and needed to sort of rewrite that. Mostly just some minor continuity issues. But that is resolved now also. Today, I'll be rendering those scenes along with a couple more animations. If all goes well, I may actually post some release dates before the end of this month.

You may see a new menu choice with this update, which will end up being the episode chooser at some point. I want to implement this for Last Human for sure because I think it would be cool if you could just go replay a favorite episode again without having to create saves manually. I am not devoting a lot of time to this right now, just prepping the area a bit, if you will. Trying to visualize it. We'll be up to 5 episodes with this update, and I have 9 planned before I start on season 2 (which will be a separate game to minimize the size).

Speaking of season 2 (yes, that answers so many of you who have asked - there will be a season 2 of Last Human) - once this first season of LH is completed, before work begins on season 2, I will probably knock out some smaller side-games that I need to get out of my system. Camilla being one of those. I also have another project called Viral Affair which I may try to work on as well. VA is a really good story I think, nothing like it out there so it will be a fresh new idea, and I think the AVN world needs more new ideas. As for Serenity, we're getting down to the last few episodes of chapter 2, then I will set that aside for a while to focus on everything else. But... Serenity fans don't panic. I have come up with a fresh new idea for a new chapter to follow it up. I am really excited about this idea, it may be one of my best yet. And I am SO tempted to spoil the surprise but I'm going to hold it in! We're a long way from that of course, but I'll give you the title I came up with so that you can ponder that until the time comes LOL - Serenity: The Legacy.
