Mom For Thanksgiving

If you celebrate the holiday, I hope it was a good one for you. I myself had to do several large Thanksgiving dinners and decided to just stay at home alone (which is honestly how I prefer things). But I am thankful for something...

ALL OF YOU WONDERFUL PATRONS!

TEXT

It was a typical Thanksgiving at the Johnson household. Sharon was in the kitchen cooking, as usual, while her husband Jeff entertained the rest of their family in the living room. Which meant that they were all watching football or talking while she did all the actual work. It was a bit frustrating for the 37 year old blonde woman, knowing the entire meal was on her, but she'd gotten used to it. At least this year her ten year old son, Eric, had decided to hang out with her, though not entirely through choice, Eric was mad at his dad because he wasn't allowed to sit in his bedroom, so the young and slightly chubby boy had decided to spend some time with his mom. And his phone. But there was a surprising amount of engagement, and Eric had actually helped Sharon out with a few things around the kitchen.

"Huh. I didn't know cooking was this cool" Eric said as he carefully lifted the pumpkin pie out of the oven.

"Technically you're baking right now, but yes, it's pretty cool. Makes you super popular and you'll never go hungry if you know how to do it!" Sharon said with a smile, taking advantage of the extra pair of hands to check on the turkey as it approached completion within the oven. "I'll teach you how to make a lot of stuff if you're interested!"

"Well...okay, I guess" Eric had said with a shrug, but Sharon caught the small grin and the spark of interest in her son's eyes. Finally, something they could bond over! And it kept him off his own phone and social media on a day that was supposed to be all about family.

Sharon spent the rest of the turkey's cooking time showing and helping her son how to prepare the Thanksgiving meal. Cooking the green beans, preparing the stuffing, showing Eric how to assemble a salad...It had been a lot of fun for the both of them. And as the timer dinged on the oven, Sharon let her pride and joy have the honor of taking the turkey out of the oven. She quietly recorded it on her own phone as Eric bent over and slowly moved the cooked fowl-laden pan out, wanting to capture this tender moment between mother and son for eternity.

"Wow, this smells incredible! Hey, since I know how to cook do you think I can be mom next Thanskgivi-" Eric said before his fave went white as a sheet before it turned a deep red, "I MEANT COOK!"

"HA!" Sharon burst into a fit of heavy laughter as she caught her son's mistake on camera.

"DID YOU RECORD THAT!? OH MY GOD!" Eric roared in embarrassment and swipedd for the phone in his mother's hand, who simply danced out of range with another fit of laughter.

"So wait wait wait, if you're gonna be the mom, then what will I be!" Sharon said as she gasped for air between giggles.

"You'll be the turkey!" Eric responded with all the anger he could muster.

But then there was a flash of light that filled the kitchen, and Eric felt incredibly dizzy and out of sorts. He felt sick to his stomach, his skin became super sensitive to the hit roiling out of the oven and his clothes felt like they were sliding all over his body...And he felt as if he was going to throw up as a blinding pain bloomed upwards from between his hips. He heard his mom let out a gasp of fear and call out his name, but her voice suddenly vanished. As the world slowly came back into view, Eric shook the long brown bangs out of his eyes and-Wait. Eric had just gotten a haircut, why was his hair long again? The boy reached up to grab it and froze, staring at the tiny, manicured hand in his vision. And then his eyes drifted to the reflection of the nearby decorative holiday mirror that hung on the fridge. Standing exactly where he was...was a rather pretty adult woman close to his mom's age! She had all the tell-tale signs of being a female version of Eric; the wide blue eyes, the heavy eyebrows, even the chin...But what drew his attention most were the two boobs sticking out from his body! And he was wearing a dress! And where was his...his...IT WAS GONE!

"Oh god!" Erica, or rather, Erica gasped, and then grabbed at the slender throat her changed head sat upon. She sounded so...different! She sounded like mom! "MOM! MOM WHAT HAPPENED!?" She called out again, but there was only silence and the distant sounds of loud conversation...And what sounded like kids playing? But Erica's mom was nowhere to be seen. She looked all over the kitchen and found no trace of Sharon. Had she ran out of the room? Was she getting help? Was she...But then Erica saw it. There, in place of the old family photo of her ten year old boy self, her mom and her dad, was now a picture of Erica, a MUCH younger version of her dad and...two kids!? "MOM!" She screamed again, fear flooding her new body.

"What is it, Erica?" A unfamiliar voice came from the doorway, where an older woman that Erica didn't recognize at all was standing, an annoyed look on her face, "Honestly you promised me that YOU'D be able to handle the dinner! But I've had to come in here every five minutes to help you with something! And look, you're just letting the turkey sit out in the cold!"

Erica's pretty blue eyes went wide as she followed the stranger's accusatory point back to the oven, where a very different turkey than the one she had pulled out a few minutes ago sat stewing in a mixture of broth and vegetables. The blood drained from Erica's face as she remembered her last words as a ten year old boy.

"M-mom?" She whimpered quietly, taking tiny steps in her house-wife heels as she approached the motionless cooked bird. There was no response save for a pop of heated oil and the smell of cooked flesh that filled the kitchen. What had happened? Was her mom really the...really the...Hot tears began to pour from Erica's eyes as she realized the enormity of what had happened, and if there was any possible way of fixing whatever had just happened! Forget changing back into a boy, she had to save her mom before-But Erica never got the chance as the stranger who seemed to know her grabbed Erica's tiny wrist and practically threw her out of the kitchen and into the staring eyes of a family she barely recognized...And two tiny toddlers who ran up to her screaming "MOMMY!"

"I'm RIGHT HERE, Erica!" The stranger hissed before slamming the kitchen door shut, "Ugh, just go play with the kids while I try to salvage this mess! This is the last time I try to let YOU be mom on Thanksgiving!"
