Regarding the bet done at the beginning of this reaction. It's difficult to remember what I thought at this point of the show. I think Mountain was a pretty safe bet for a character who was going to die since he was so awful and not much of a character. So it's hard to see him surviving. I also never really got to the point where I could forgive Melissandre either. As for who would have been a shocking death the writers might have pulled on us would be Arya since we had rooted and watched her grow up the most of the characters.

Littlefinger wants to split the sisters apart so he will be able to control Sansa. He came from nothing, has no house, no family, and no friends. He always gets power through manipulating other people. If things go wrong then there is nobody who will stand with him.
