Not my favorite Godzilla movie. The Godzilla itself is good, but the 'mutos' are not very good kaiju IMO. You should try to see the original "Gojira" in the original Japanese (with sub-titles) (but not the made-for-America dubbed version with Raymond Burr).

I find most of what Hella does to be adorable, but her calling the male muto a coward for attacking from behind might be the cutest thing I've seen.

I just realized it was weird they added a train in the Honolulu scene, they didn’t even have a train until more than 10 years after this film released lol

It looks like Godzilla has gained three new fans.😉 I love how immersed Hella was in the movie. At the end, when Godzilla wakes up and the soldiers are twitching, she immediately shouts at the soldiers, "Don't you fire, hold your fire.".😅
What Chi says at the end hits the nail on the head with what the director wanted to achieve.
He wanted to make a film about people with monsters in it, and not, as is usually the case, a monster movie with human extras. In this respect, I think it was a great Idea that the monsters were mostly filmed indirectly from a human perspective; it shows the size and scale of the monsters better.
The movie received a lot of criticism from Godzilla fans for this. But I don't think it was a bad decision. Yes, a few more scenes with Godzilla would have been nice. But the movie is still a good start to the Monsterverse.
I'm glad you're also watching Godzilla King of Monsters; I think it's the best movie in the Monsterverse.
You could say that the first Movie takes itself a bit too seriously and the later parts are a bit too silly, especially when it comes to the human storyline.
I think Godzilla King of Monsters has exactly the right mix of serious and silly.
I hope you'll give the rest of the Monsterverse a chance too. Yes, the human stories there are silly, but the monster fights are mostly awesome.
A little motivation: Loki actor Tom Hiddleston and Captain Marval actress Brie Larsen are in Kong Skull Island.😉
Two Marvel actors also played in this movie, Elizabeth Olsen, the Wanda actress, of course you recognized her.
The actor who plays her husband is Aaron Taylor-Johnson; he played Wanda's brother Quicksilver in Avengers: Age of Ultron.
I always thought it was a funny coincidence that both actors played a married couple in Godzilla 2014 and twin siblings in Age of Ultron 2015.
That was a great reaction, ladies, as always! I'd also like to praise the variety of movie genres in the reactions we get lately, keep it up.💜

Oh, this movie also features Bryan Cranston as Joe/The dad. He's a great actor whether it's comedy or drama, but he's probably most famous for an American TV show called BREAKING BAD. When you're done with Game of Thrones, it might be a great show to react to.

As a little kid, I was a SUPER FAN of Heisei Era Godzilla movies. Back then it was just guys in rubber suits, but I loved those movies so much. These movies also featured Godzilla as the protector of humanity.
While I think Godzilla Minus One is the BEST Godzilla movie, this American version, AKA The MonsterVerse, is a lot of fun. They are pure specticle, but yeah, fun anyway. These movies were amazing in IMax.
I'll also suggest Pacific Rim directed by Guillermo del Toro and any other films directed by him.
Also, NOPE, directed by Jordan Peele, the guy who directed Get Out and Us. Definitely watch this one but don't look up anything about it.

I am happy they don't do movie polls. Feels more like a roll of the dice. You like some you or you don't feels fair. otherwise I can see transformers and fast and furious being voted on weekly

Oh yeah, in the off chance that the Munchies are reading this: if you watch Kong: Skull Island (2017) next, it has a post-credits scene. Same with Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019).

The cut of the original 1954 film with Raymond Burr is the Americanized version.
They’d be better off watching the original Japanese version, IMO.

Not much can compare to Godzilla -1, but this movie isn’t too bad. Better than Shin Godzilla at least. But if the Munchies are reacting to it, then I am watching it!
