The way that Katy gushed about how hot scientists are made me happy about my Biology degree. Sad that I'm old and retired, but it's nice to know that somewhere in the world that there are beautiful women who like nerds.
The special effects and acting are excellent, the science--pretty good, but not great. The Mars atmosphere is so thin that the big storm at the beginning would not--could not--be that powerful. Also, no space movie that I'm aware of takes the technology of SpaceX's dependable and rapidly reusable rockets into account. In addition China is now copying the SpaceX style rockets. So the way that movies still have 'Everything Depends On This One Chance Launch' plots are now obsolete.

If you liked this one, please check out "The Last Duel": Matt Damon really shows what a great actor he is with a completely different character from anything he's played before, and it's a heck of a good movie that very few people know about. And it's a Ridley Scott movie. That doesn't always mean it's a good movie, but with this one it does. Also, Ridley Scott's best movie is still his first one - "The Duellists". You should watch that one too.
