Great commentary during the film, but I was surprised by how many of the songs you already knew! In 2014, Lady Gaga performed a tribute to "The Sound of Music" for its 50th anniversary at the Academy Awards ceremony. 2025-01-19 01:13:38 +0000 UTCThe Captain was also a ritter, which roughly equates to the title of "knight". He and Maria were maried in 1927 and continued living in Austria until 1938. He was not nearly so strict and severe as portrayed in the film. They lost most of their wealth during the great depression and started a chicken farm as a business. This is also when the family began performing profesionally. They had two more children during this period. Their departure from Austria was not so dramatic as in the film. They did leave all their belongings behind but they simply boarded a train and left the country without incident on the last day before the borders closed. They lived briefly in several places in Europe before sailing to the U.S.. Their financial situation was dire but they were resourceful and soon built an income by touring and performing. Their last child, Johaness was born in 1939 while they were in tour in Pennsylvania. Eventually they earned enough money to purchase a farm and settled in the mountains of Vermont where they built a European style lodge/inn and begain operating a resort. The resort is still in operation, run by the youngest and last surviving member of the children, Johaness. In the early 2000s, three of the grandchildren formed a singing group but they have since disbanded. The film has remained very popular all these years and so has the script for live theatrical productions. I've been cast in six different productions and three different roles, begining as Kurt in a local community (amature) theater production, later as Friedrich in school production, then as Captain von Trapp in a school production. In a college production I again played the captain, and then the same role two more times in two seperate community theater productions

But, if you want a film where Ana de Armas just looks beautiful, check out this film called Knock Knock 2015. It also has Keanu Reeves, but I wouldn't say it's a good movie, just good looking people.

2025-01-11 03:53:32 +0000 UTCChristopher Plummer is Captain Von Trapp in this film. I really like him as an actor. He died in 2021, but he acted almost up to the end of his life. He played a big role in two of my favorite films, both murder mysteries. THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO(2011). This is a very dark film, but really good. KNIVES OUT. Despite being a murder mystery this is light-hearted and I'd call it a "Cozy Mystery."

I still hope you continue on with GOT. It was a tough season ending especially for Hella. But you made it this far and you have to see how it the story plays out.

Great job! I hope you ladies post some silent movies sometime as well (Charlie Chaplin, Buster Keaton, Harold Lloyd...). Though my favorite movie decade may be the 1970s. A lot of great comedies, horror, and dramas came out of the 1970s. Please search "Best 70s movies" and post from that list! π

I can only imagine how stunning the open ariel scene must have been in theaters back in its time. i absolutely adore this era of movie that featured an overture with intro credits.
