Rogue One: A Star Wars Story Reaction

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story Reaction

Comments

I vote for both Solo and movies 7-9. Absolutely worth it!!!

MinWii

I disagree with episodes 7-9 trilogy being "really really....really bad," - They were quite enjoyable to me, just not as potent as the old school stuff, most likely because of my age. Plus the newer CGI is so sophisticated, new, and amazing.

Truss

Ta. Thanks Edward.

Duncan

Its the best movie outside of a franchise, ever.

Bow River Basher

I think they might enjoy both those shows, actually. Yes, Andor is a bit slow sometimes, but I think it's a well made show. Rings of Power has fun moments too, but some weak stuff as well. At least I know I'll watch their reactions to either show.

phoenix241

I would enjoy a review for Solo, but the sequel trilogy was really really....really bad, and over time their reputation has gone downhill even more. If you do want to continue with Star Wars though, I would recommend reviewing "The Mandalorian" and "Andor," series, especially as there is an upcoming Mandalorian movie coming out, and a new season of Andor soon.

Robert Meza

It would have been even better if Disney hadn't stuck their nose in after filming and demanded reshoots. All credit goes to Gareth Edwards and Tony Gilroy.

Edward Olson

The Kenobi series is not a way to complete any circle. It directly contradicts George Lucas's Star Wars and should be ignored.

Edward Olson

This is a pretty great spinoff film. Definitely check out the sequel trilogy, and also the Disney Plus shows. They are worth a watch :)

Chrono Gamer

Ultimately, you ladies should enjoy what you love. I would not "sleep" on "Solo: A Star Wars Story" - a well-done prequel on Han Solo, similar to this movie. - And Khaleesi from "Game of Thrones" is in it !! - Naughty Girl! [EDIT] - I forgot to mention: Lando Calrissian and Chewbacca too.

Truss

The last two true Star Wars things you should watch is the animated Clone Wars movie and then the animated show made by George Lucas. Everything else is just an actual Murder of the heart of Star Wars.

Roben Sifer

The only decent non-trilogy film in my opinion. Was not made by Disney which I think made it fantastic

Travis Thomas

I cast my vote for watching episode 7-9. They are maybe not as good as the first six, but I think they are still worth a watch. I also think you would enjoy "the Mandalorian" series. It is very well made, and even though some episodes aren't as good as others, I like it overall. Beyond that, Andor is a good show in my opinion. Some think it is a bit slow, and it is definitely a bit different as it is about "normal" people and not jedis and stuff, but I think it is good. But in the end, it's up to you and I will watch whatever you watch.

phoenix241

Not watch Andor, it is pretty boring. Watch "the rings of Power 'instead.

Cro2

Should defo watch Andor

Daniel Linehan

Please watch the Star Wars movies: Episodes 7, 8, and 9. I would like you to have a chance to convey your opinions and see your reaction. Also... watch the Star Wars series: "The Mandalorian" and "Andor", which are really great! The "Obi-Wan" series is worth a watch as well.

Wink B. Wink

this is the last "great" Star Wars movie in my opinion. if you watch more Star Wars, expect them to be not as good. but who knows? you might like them! the Star Wars TV shows are all bad as well, "Obi-Wan" is bad but worth watching for a couple scenes.

Johnny Boro

"aspiration" means to breathe, but it also means your dreams and desires. "be careful not to ~choke~ on your ~aspirations~" is wordplay, two different meanings [:

Johnny Boro

I enjoy watching the newer Star Wars movies here.

Dreldven

Star wars mid. If you want you can stop. Got marathon imo

Sparesomechange

Being an old git I struggle with a lot of the newer Star Wars stuff. It's watchable but it's not something I love like the original trilogy. I did enjoy this movie, and I enjoy watching along with you girls but I didn't watch the prequel trilogy here and I doubt I'd personally watch the others. I'd say broaden your horizons with some other classic movies. The 90s action movies are always a good watch, and there's some cracking comedies out there too, not to say the one off classics.

Andy Worthington

I would highly recommend the Obi Wan show and another show called The Mandalorian if you want guys want to continue watching Star Wars!

Michael Fredrick Malone

I agree but with the caveat that they should definitely watch Andor. It's written by the same guy that wrote Rogue One and also stars Diego Luna. It's just as good as Rogue One if not better. Taken as a whole, I would say Andor/Rogue One is the best Star Wars live action media since the original Trilogy.

Joel Purvis

Of course you should continue reacting to more Star Wars. Was that a serious question? You both seemed to have enjoyed the movies you've watched so far. Still got Solo, and episodes 7, 8, and 9. You'll like those movies and you'll see some familiar faces. Then there's the series, The Mandalorian, Obi-Wan, Andor, Ahsoka. More Star Wars!! If I'm being honest.. that's the reason why I subscribed to this site to begin with.

Joseph Briscoe

is that what I said? i suppose i did speak generally. Andor is a critically acclaimed show, but it has relatively low viewing figures (twice the number watched Book of Boba Fett which was terrible) for a reason. but no, Andor is not a bad show.

King Bob

Great reaction, girls. As always.

Paul De'Armond

Observations from this (having only just really watched Rogue One properly)… 1. Mads Mikkelsen is incapable of being a ‘goodie’; he just has an evil face and it isn’t his fault. 2. Riz Ahmed is exceptional as always (Three Lions from the legendary Chris Morris is a case in point). 3. Vader is extremely terrifying when he doesn’t talk with James Earl Jones’ voice, he’s just monstrous. 4. None of the rebels on Leia’s ship had bad 1970s haircuts or sideburns (continuity issues). 5. Chi* and Hella* need to watch the ‘Kenobi’ series to complete the circle (and ignore the rest of Disney). 6. Hello there! 7. That’s it 🙂❤️ 8. *(correct me on name spellings if appropriate, ta 🙂) 9. Obi Wan has PTSD https://youtu.be/T9j7kLG7VK8?si=bwZCfy6e_faq5yEj 10. (there isn’t a tenth point but ten is better that nine to finish a list of points on).

Duncan

Yay! Thanks for the reaction on this one. The ending of this was my favorite of the entire series. There's talk of Disney possibly re-doing episodes 7-9, so I'm on the fence with you reacting to the current versions. As long as you are aware that the current episodes are not considered 'canon', rather they have more of a 'fan fiction' feel to them, go ahead! It won't hurt our feelings. It's just very much 'this happened, because', and you will 100% be either confused, or bothered, at the lack of logic at some point.

Frozen Yak

Agree. No point I’m wasting 1-3 weeks on content that isn’t good I wouldn’t even tune in for their reactions honestly

fan

I think the only reason Disney was successful with this movie was because their story was basically on guide rails. They had some creative freedom, but it was reigned in with the requirements to get back to predetermined points and people. They didn’t have that with episode 7-9

fan

I finally got around to watching the reaction. Looking back, I wonder how Disney was able to make such a good Start Wars movie. I think there are a few story contradictions to A New Hope, but they're so small that you can ignore them. Not all beings who were Force-sensitive became Jedi or Sith. Chirrut is one of those people. He can't use the Force like a Jedi, but he can feel the Force and use it a little in his own way. You recently reacted to Spaceballs. I'm wondering if the planet shield of Scarif is a little homage to the oxygen shield on the planet Druidica from Spaceballs.😅 I already answered the question yesterday whether it's worth continuing to watch, and here's the short answer again. Personally, I would stop when it's at its best and it won't get any better than it is now. If you keep watching, I hope you enjoy the movies.🙂 My Star Wars journey ends here. Great reaction as always ladies, it was a pleasure watching you.💜

Digitalversager

if you guys enjoyed this I would recommend the Andor series. It has the same mature feeling of this movie and does a good job of showing how the Empire operates

vexyis

Thankfully I am good at compartmentalizing and am able to ignore their existence, as they are basically bad fanfic (except the people who made them aren't actually fans).

Edward Olson

lol "we're going down!" Hella: "THEN GO UP!" hahahaha

Thalanoth

Yeah, those first two seasons of The Mandalorian are really fun. I think the girls would love it.

Steven Roy

You should definitely watch Andor, but maybe skip the remaining movies

Which Witch is Which

I respect your opinion but people will definitely watch their reactions. Popcorn in Bed another popular reactor watched the sequel trilogy and even though plenty of people said don’t watch they are horrible she did and had 250,000 plus views.

Anthony Hooks-Perry

Agree completely, especially when it comes to watching Andor. I would recommend, as many have, watching The Mandalorian as well, probably before watching the next trilogy. The new movies, episodes 7-9, are very divisive for good reasons but I would have fun seeing your reactions to them all.

Grumples

Star Wars Episode 1-6 is George Lucas. Episode 7 - 9 is made by someone else, so you don't need to watch it. It doesn't make sense. Just start on another series. hahaha

N2Joker

Great reaction girls, my request is the movie SOLO, a Star Wars movie, and The Caravan of Courage and The Battle of Endor ( both Ewok movies )

Ervin Cortez

Loved your guys reaction! If you guys want to watch the next trilogy, 7, 8, and 9, they are fun movies to watch if you're not a huge huge star wars fan, but they definitely aren't as good as what you are used too from Star Wars. I would highly recommend checking out The Mandalorian though. Seasons 1 and 2 are great. Other than that I can't personally recommend anything else Star Wars offers except for The Clone Wars TV show, but that takes a lot of dedication lol. Anyway, if I may request a personal recommendation if you guys haven't seen it yet. Tarzan 1999 version by Disney. It's one of my favorite movies and would love it if you guys could react to it if you haven't seen it before :)

Derek

@Anthony Hooks-Perry Why would people who hate the Disney movies watch reactions to them?

Edward Olson

Another great reaction ~ I'd recommend you consider watching: The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, and Andor Series, along with Star Wars Episodes 7, 8, and 9. I think you'd really enjoy them as they add more details about the Star Wars Universe and some main character backstories, and future stories regarding Luke, Leia, Han Solo, R2D2, C3PO, etc.

Proto Type

Disney Star Wars is NOT George Lucas' Star Wars. George Lucas' Star Wars is what you loved. Just because Disney bought the name doesn't make it worthy of being called Star Wars. Disney Star Wars, with very few exceptions, is badly written, badly acted, badly directed, and directly insults the memory of what George Lucas did. One of the exceptions is Tony Gilroy's work, including Rogue One (with the exception of the re-shot ending) and Andor. This is the only acceptable Disney Star Wars movie. In television, the Andor series and the first two seasons of The Mandalorian are great. The Clone Wars animated series is great. If you do watch Disney Star Wars Episodes 7-9, just expect A LOT of negative comments (not about you as reactors) that will overshadow anything else. Personally, I would not watch your reactions to those movies because the movies are so terrible.

Edward Olson

Not my favorite Star wars movie, but i enjoyed watching it with you guys

Snusgrop

They're asking for opinions. So saying watch them and make your own opinion is ignoring what they're asking.

Edward Olson

very well said, episode 7-9 and acolyte could be de priortized

dorkVader

Here is what I would recommend. Staying in the period between Episode 3 and 4. Andor is a prequel to Rogue One, and it is fantastic. I Highly recommend. Considering your reaction to the prequels, I would highly recommend the Obi Wan series. Some would maybe not recommend it, but I loved it. I like following the emotional journey obi wan went on after Anikan turned to Vader. It's not perfect, but no Star Wars is. Moving on to the period right after Episode 6, The Mandalorian is a must watch. Everything apart from these vary in quality and you will not find universal praise for anything. The only stuff I personally don't care for at all are episodes 7-9.

JK2222

I recommend against 7-9. I wish they were erased from my memory, they ruined Star Wars for me.

JK2222

You cannot spoil that which is already rotten to its core

Ryan Alexander

Please keep watching more Star Wars movies!!!

mundanelotus

Ladies, if you want to keep your memories of the original series then I suggest you stop here. If you want to continue, just view them with an open mind. Go in with a mindset of..."Let's see what you got Disney". M/tF/b/w/Y.

B A

Yes girls watch star wars episode 7-9 the story continues from 6

Paul Wu

Definitely watch Andor, it's the best Star Wars in years, and season 1 and 2 of the Mandalorian. DO NOT under any circumstances watch any of the other new Star Wars stuff. Rebels and Clone wars are fine, but you don't seem to watch animation much on this channel.

Simon

Whatever they watch, I watch with them and have fun.

Steven Roy

I personally would like to see your reaction to the rest of star wars because why not? Its there even if you don't like it its your reaction I'm watching for not the film itself

Imperial Mort

The only good star wars is The Star Wars Holiday Special, Caravan of Courage and The Battle of Endor everything else just cannot live up to that magnificence.

Imperial Mort

Please remove the spoiler @ryan alexander

Anna Kyruin

You've seen Andor and you think it's bad? Interesting.

Anna Kyruin

All good points, but you forgot to mention they made the sequal trilogy with no overarching plan. Just passing it from one director to another giving each free reign. Causing storyline to be setup and then dropped, retcons, tonal inconsistency, and eventually desperate pandering. "Somehow Palpatine returned." Brilliant writing that, so satisfying

Ryan Alexander

No need to watch Star Wars 7-9 unless… 1. You want to see Disney turn the hero’s from the original movies into pathetic losers, or evil, and undermined to support their new characters they try to force you to like. 2. Their new characters don’t have to go through a journey or any struggle. The one new character they had the opportunity to do that with that we would care about, they give up on by the end of episode 7, and make them a laughing stock who is dumb and only says funny quirks and does nothing of value 3. They take what the original hero’s did in episodes 1-6 and retroactively make all of their sacrifices meaningless so their new character, who has no journey or struggle, gets to be the hero. Sorry Luke, Han, Leia, Anakin, make way for the new people! Some people say episode 7 is good, and to be honest I was one of those people, because they made the movie in a way where it is very vague and non specific. So you think it’s setting up a bigger story. But they don’t. They kill everything that ever happened in episode 8 and 9 and it ruins the entire story. It’s better to ignore it, and remember Star Wars for what it is. Don’t taint your memory of the movies!

fan

The shroud of the Kathleen has fallen. Begun the Fan war has.

Manospondylus

I agree with you. Especially about Andor it is such a good show.

colin summers

Well, they have done Police Academy. [edit] Ah, but perhaps you were referring to the Police Academy sequels.

S_Vive

I'm not a fan of the sequel trilogy (The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi, and The Rise of Skywalker) and much of the Star Wars material released afterwards. I think that they diminish the story and characters of the orginal. HOWEVER, I would never want to let my personal preferences bar you ladies from discovering something that you may enjoy. I suggest that you watch the movies and make up your own mind - keeping in mind that Star Wars movies and shows released after 2012 have no involvement from George Lucas and sometimes directly contradict his vision of Star Wars.

James Hull

I say watch the sequel trilogy (7/8/9) despite what everyone is saying. I can understand why people criticize them and I agree with a lot of the criticism but it is okay to watch and enjoy things despite their problems. I would also highly recommend watching the Andor TV series after this as it is about Captain Cassian Andor's past and one of the best series. If I were you I would just continue watching all the series and movies in release order despite what a vocal minority will say, it will give you the most full picture of the canon star wars universe even if some parts disappoint you. It is OK for you to decide for yourself whether you enjoy something.

Anna Kyruin

Not sure why but it absolutely wrecked me when Hella saw Forest Whitaker's Saw Gerrera character die and said, "We just know you a little, we want you more!" Forest Whitaker is one of my all time favorite actors and he was amazing in Star Wars. Fortunately, I have good news! First, most of the main characters from Rogue One can be found in the prequel series "Star Wars: Andor" - including Forest Whitaker returning as Saw Gerrera. Second, when you guys get around to watching "Good Morning Vietnam", along with Robin Williams who you've already seen (at least I hope Hella saw him too) you will get more Forest Whitaker as he has a major role in that film as well. Ladies, don't change.

David Collins

I personally think Disney Star Wars is terrible. (Granted, I've only seen three Disney Star Wars movies and none of the shows. After the first couple movies, I had no desire to watch any more.) But it's up to you whether you continue or not. Lots of people hate the new Star Wars, but there are some people who like it.

Kyle MacDougall

Okay, I will give my opinion on what Star Wars show you should watch next. ANDOR. This show follows Cassian Andor (the main guy in Rogue One), so it is before the events of Rogue One, obviously it can't be after because he's blown up by the Death Star. haha. But, the TV show is written by Tony Gilroy who wrote Rogue One. I will say this is the most mature Star Wars show that exist. It follows Cassian Andor as he becomes part of the rebellion and we meet other normal people who sacrifice to fight the empire, but it also shows people who work for the empire as they try to defeat the rebellion. There's only been one season of Andor. I think the second season comes out later this year. THE MANDALORIAN: I really like this show too. It follows a Mandalorian Bounty hunter and takes place AFTER return of the Jedi, so it's possible that characters who are alive after Return of the Jedi could make an appearance. You never know :) I think you might prefer this one as there is a character (VERY CUTE) that I think you would really love, but don't want to say more and spoil anything. Star Wars 7, 8, 9: i will be honest and say I don't like these movies. I find the writing very bad, and they are directed by different people who seem to have a different vision for what the story should be and it makes the trilogy not make a lot of sense. Just my opinion. However, starting in episode 8, there's a character called Rose Tico. She is played by Vietnamese-American actress, Kelly Marie Tran. While I didn't love the films, I did like this character. Maybe you'd like to see a Vietnamese person in a Star Wars movie. Yeah, Donnie Yen plays Chirrut in Rogue One. He's a big Kung Fu star in China, but he's also been in a ton of American films, even John Wick 4.

Steven Roy

The kind of fans that can tell the difference between good movies and the slop Disney has been serving up lately? I think they deserve more credit then that

Ryan Alexander

Yes ladies. Watch the rest of the movies. Don’t worry about the people who bash them. They bashed the prequels, and you both loved them. So just watch them and decide for yourself how you feel about them. They definitely have some very good moments.

Noal McInnis

Well, Hella wasn’t devastated like I expected. Good job. Evil Chi made an appearance again. 😂 K2SO became my favorite droid and still is. And this is the only movie I can think of where the entire main cast dies. My favorite Star Wars movie of all time.

Noal McInnis

ah should you watch any more Star Wars movies, that is the question, there are 3 more movies after Return of the Jedi (Episode VI) (not counting spin-off movies like Rogue 1) Star Wars: The Force Awakens (Episode VII) Star Wars: The Last Jedi (Episode VIII) Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (Episode IX) They are ok I guess, there are some good moments and some absolute cringe moments that leave you wondering "What were they thinking" I suppose I am on the fence a little, Starwars superfans tend to hate those movies. lol If you watch the tv shows, I would only watch the The Mandalorian, and probably only the first 2 seasons. The other Star Wars TV shows are really bad lol

King Bob

Yeah, I always thought this one was good too. Tony Gilroy writing so you can't go wrong.

Steven Roy

I would stop if i were you. Since we are close to October why dont you react to the SAW movies

Blackwargreymon00

Same. The majority of reactors are not hardcore fans. Ive seen it with so many channels. They love the sequels, they love the prequels. They love the hobbit trilogy. They love rings of power. I want to see their reactions and joy. If people don't like it fine, say that. But we all know they'll enjoy it.

Cornelius P. Stranglefart, Attorney at Law D.D.S.

Stop. It should be obvious by this point that Chi and Hella are not those kind of fans. Let them enjoy things they will enjoy. I wouldn't watch the sequals again because they're not my thing but I would definitely watch them react to it.

Cornelius P. Stranglefart, Attorney at Law D.D.S.

Everyone has such strong opinions. But most of us had the opportunity to watch the movies and develop those opinions. It’s not fair to tell them not to watch. What if they end up enjoying them? The only way for us and them to know is to watch.

Anthony Hooks-Perry

Of course you ladies should do what you want. But if you ask me, I would stop when it's at its best and that is now. Of course I can't say much without giving away spoilers. I watched Episode 7 all the way through and Episode 8 halfway through and that was it for me. Especially when you love characters like Han and Luke, it's just a shame what the new movies are doing with these two great characters. You have other movie series that you haven't finished yet that I would rather see, for example Back to the Future, John Wick, The Mummy 2, Matrix 2 + 3, I would even like to see Police Academy.😅

Digitalversager

Though I would as well usually strongly recommend against watching any of the further films... I also cannot disagree with your advice to them as deciding for themselves.

S_Vive

STOP HERE!!!! The sequel trilogy does nothing but destroy the story of the original movies. They do have some supporters but most Star Wars fans I know hate them. If you want more good Star Wars content try shows like the Clone Wars, The Madalorian, Andor, or even Rebels (but only watch Rebels after Clone Wars) Avoid the Acolyte at all cots

Ryan Alexander

This movie and the series "Star Wars: Andor" are as good as Star Wars ever was!

David Collins

Yes continue!! Plsss

Joshua delrey

You should definitely keep watching. I think you guys should come to your own conclusions about the movies and not be influenced by other people’s opinions.

Anthony Hooks-Perry

Loved your reaction. Plz continue with this movie series.

Dave Walker

Never did care much for anything that Disney has done with Star Wars, but I do hope you ladies enjoy it.

Brandon

+ most of Darth Vader and Anakin than any other show so far

JessDMorgan

Just watched the first few minutes and would like to put my vote in that yes I would like to see you continue the Star Wars movies, The Force Awakens is the 5th highest grossing movie of all time, it was a cultural event, it would feel weird to skip it and It's pretty entertaining, I also love The Last Jedi, whether you want to do the TV shows or anything is up to you since that's a bigger commitment but the Obi-Wan Kenobi series would probably be a good one to do since it's only 6 episodes and comes after the prequels

Jonathan Kidman

hell yeah !!!! fits perfectly.

JessDMorgan

Next up : Kenobi series. You ladies will love it

Jozsef Csatajszki

Omg YES! I don’t care what anyone says, this is my favorite Star Wars movie. Looking forward to seeing how this one affects you ladies, but I suspect Hella is going to have a rough ride at the end.
