Several references are to serious dramatic movies about the Vietnam War such as Full Metal Jacket, Apocalypse Now, Forrest Gump, and Platoon among others. The structure can be difficult to follow since it make it look like real war, then a movie being filmed and ending in real battle. This movie came out a few months after Iron Man in 2008. Iron Man was the movie that began the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It was a big year for Robert Downey, Jr. Jack Black voiced Po in Kung Fu Panda (June 2008) and Bowser in Super Mario Bros. Movie (2023). I have always wondered if Tugg Speedman killing the Panda was related to Kung Fu Panda. Someone might be able to confirm or deny this. Keep up the great reactions.
