Hey everyone,
I got a release date at the end of this post. Rejoice!
Now let's get to it.
Not much left to say about EP11, so let's talk about something else.
So as most of you guys probably know this is mostly a one-man operation at this point with help from people from time to time. With Project Eden (reminder: this is a codename, not actual game title) that needs to change.
I won't be able to do everything on my own. Or rather, I could but it just wouldn't be plausible to do so.
People with much more experience than me told me to learn to delegate work as soon possible. I didn't listen, so I had to learn the hard way. I was trying to everything by myself becasue I thought it can only be right if I do it. That's a foolish way to think most of the time. I should have instead looked at it from a different perspective. Like what other people's work could add to the overall experience of you guys, the players. There's also the fact that a project as big as Eden probably can't be done be my alone in a reasonable amount of time, and with the much needed help I can focus on my area much more.
So I'm putting a team together. A "full time" team, with each person contributing to the release from month to month. Let me talk a bit about the team compostion.
You already know the game is going to be made with the Unity engine so the current coder who helps me out was an obvious choice to recruit. Ever since he's taken over the advanced coding for DoD things went smoothly. No game breaking bugs (if there were any, they were my fault), he works fast and precisely.
So that's the first position, a dedicated coder. I'll still write a few lines here and there, but I realized I should focus on overall directing and what I do best. (The juciy renders)
I also need a dedicated writer. One who can write with the style I think fits the game. I have the core storyline put together already for Eden, so you'll get a story experience you're already used to, but hopefully something new in terms of presentation and flow thanks to a dedicated writer. And of course none of my stupid spelling/grammatical mistakes.
This position is not yet filled, and I will start recruiting after Episode 11 is finished. I'll keep you posted on who it's going to be.
So what's my job is going to be?
I'll be directing, designing and of course doing the graphical part of the game. Hopefully that will help ease my workload and with that my renders could get to the next level.
I forgot to mention that I'm probably going to hide the pledge amount soon. The reason for that is that I noticed that when I was looking for some help for DoD, after I've shown my page or people found out about it, they quoted me rates far above the industry standard.
(It's also a bit weird to tell someone about my work in real life and the first thing that pops up is the support amount)
Which is kind of disappointing, but it is what it is. However, I wanted to ask your opinions about this, because I'm proud of the numbers, but I thought it might be a better idea to hide for well, practical reasons.
Anyways, I've already talked way too much.
Release dates:
Elite: March 28
General: March 31
As late as it can be, I know and I'm sorry about that. Trust me, it will hit like a truck.
And as always, thank you so much for the awesome support!
