A Quick Update and Release Dates
Added 2017-08-19 18:05:46 +0000 UTCHey guys!
Next Monday I'm doing a proper dev update again, so I thought I'll leave this one a bit short, just tell you a few things I've been doing.
Most of you already know about the night scene with mom. To those who missed it/didn't know, mom will visit the Main Character in EP6 at night, as you guys voted for it.
That scene is already finished, and I packed in 2 variations. I hope you'll like it!
I've been talking with Patrons on the discord server, and I just wanted to let you know what I had already told them yesterday, that Marcus' mom will get a scene in EP6 as well.
There are a few things I'm working on which I want to improve, that doesn't affect the immediate release, more on that on Monday.
Also, a few Patrons asked about an alternate for Mega download. I've been using it from the start, and I find the 'competition' lackluster, but I probably don't know enough of these hosting sites, so if you have an idea or suggestion about where the release should be uploaded beside mega, let me know in the comments!
Oh and of course, the release dates.
Early Access: August 27th
General Release: August 30th
All release times are 19:00 UTC!
I'll get you some more info on Monday so stay tuned and enjoy the weekend!

If you save your games you can load them in the new version too and continune from there. So it's helpful to save a game at the last scene of an episode.

2017-08-21 12:24:26 +0000 UTCHey there. For me Mega is still the preferred site, it has the highest bandwith, no captcha etc, no download waiting time like others....but to be honest, I have no idea how it looks for the one uploading the files.....
2017-08-20 11:13:44 +0000 UTCgoogle drive works wonders for downloading huge files and you get full speeds. i usually get 10mbs.

2017-08-20 02:44:18 +0000 UTCShould start breaking the linear flow. With monthly updates you have to run the entire story over and over, takes away some of the fun. then you just need to add events with triggers less work, better project.

2017-08-20 02:12:00 +0000 UTCBreaking the file into parts is fine Stefan but these file hosting sites under the free tariff standard like Fileboom and uploaded will roughly limit you to “number of downloads and volume per set amount of time”, like no more than 700mb of data download per 3 hours. If Sin moves to them and breaks the last episode 0.5 to 2 rar files of 700mb each that will provide the 1.4G game file. It will take a patron wanting to free download this at least 2 downloads and a total of 6 hours at least to get the files and extract them. More with slower speeds and bad connection. This I believe is the inconvenience they have present to Sin and why they are looking for alternatives. Another problem could be a number of patrons are unaware they can register at Mega for a free account and that benefit alone could solve or alleviate their download problems. Mega has a free registered account, offering 50GB of storage to users, BUT the catch is that only 10GB of bandwidth per month is offered on this free plan. Quite Sly of them as it means you could never download your 50G free space in a month. But as a free registered account you can use up your free 10G in one download or over that month. No day or hourly limits if I recall correctly. An easy solution at the moment is for patrons to register for a free account with Mega and don’t go premium. Use the 10G free month download exclusive for this game or priorities it. When the game file is close in on 10G that when it will be a serious problem for patrons wanting to download for free. At Sin’s current output rate, 5 episodes = 1.4G, that will be around about the 35th episode or so when this game gets close to 10G. Still a long way off. Mega’s free 10G of downloads per month for free register accounts is better than most sites plus the fact that most developers on Patreon use Mega is the primary reasons I believe there is no real alternative.

2017-08-19 22:06:08 +0000 UTCI have had spotty success in using the free downloads on those hosting sites. Sometimes it depends on which browser I am using at the time. I have had it just sit there and do nothing on one browser and work just fine (if incredibly slowly) on another. The sites are often confusing, too, and you can wind up downloading some utility you don't want or need if you are not careful. I have downloaded Mega and use it whenever possible, with no complaints at all. Quick and easy with the ability to direct it to whatever folder I wish.

2017-08-19 21:05:52 +0000 UTCSounds great Sin. What is the issue with Mega? If it is the perpetual dislike over the limit free bandwidth for the "free mega accounts" then there not much you can do about it. These file hosting sites have very similar prices and incentive schemes. They literally follow each other in terms of upgrades and prices. If patrons are looking to free download large files at good speed then it is an unrealistic hope or wish as these hosting site don't allow free to be that "convenient". Mega is one of the more popular ones out there with the likes of Sabrecat, Mediafire, Dropbox, Fileboom, Uploaded etc... they all pretty similar in terms of pricing, free storage, speed abilities etc... Like you wrote the alternatives are lackluster to the point of no real alternatives. If patrons are using Patreon for gaming and other interest, Mega is worth a small investment in terms of convenience as many developers on Patreon use mega to share their files. 6 out of 7 games I patron use Mega and I have seen this issue come up a lot so I am assuming this is the problem with mega. If not, then please ignore me. But to be realistic with each installment the size of this game file will get larger, due to the more renders, content etc... this will make it harder for any patrons looking to conveniently free download the game. If memory serves the last download was 1.4G in a winrar file. That size will enter the paying price brackets of any file hosting site to conveniently download it very soon most only give 2 - 5G of space. Patrons should be aware of this issue that this game file size will only increase with each installment. If they want to continue to download it for free they should expect inconveniences as people pay file hosting sites to make uploading and downloading convenient.
