Development Update #15 - July 03, 2017

Hey everyone!


Episode 4 release wasn't going as smooth as I wanted it to be. A game breaking bug was discovered a few hours before early access release and the coder was missing.

So panic mode engaged, I tried to repair everything I could myself, but that wasn't enough.

Luckily in the end things turned out OK, but still, I'd like to apologize to everyone who had issues with the release. I'm aware that Mac users still has a bug, which apparently there is no fix (?), at least this is what I'm told.

I sealed a new deal today, with a new programmer who was recommended by fellow developers. He will rebuild the whole minigame system from the ground up.
Content won't change in the already existing minigames in EP2 and EP4, but the code behind the system will be better, easier to expand, and bug free. (I also requested a small feature of tooltips, because I like tooltips)

That sad, I don't want to rush this, I want the coder to have as much time in the world as it's realisticly possible, so Episode 5 will not include a minigame. I didn't plan to include one anyway, so no real loss here.

Regarding Episode 5, I've been writing the script since the release mess was dealt with, and I'm almost finished. I can show an early preview render by Wednesday.

Now that all the characters are introduced, I can get deeper into the story and develop the relationship between the characters.

We left off at the end of Day 8, with some hints already on what's going to happen on Day 9. Detective Marcus and Main Character are going to go ham on the clues they have collected so far. Tracy is desperately searching for "something," and the Main Character's quest to break aunt Jenna's iron will continues.

I don't want to tell you too much this early in the cycle (as usual), so I'll tell you some things about Day 10 on next Monday when I'll have everything finalized already. Oh, and release dates as usual, at the end of the month. I'll probably have the exact dates by the ned of next week!

Hello. Please I need help. I am currently in day 7 after breakfast. I suppose to watch a movie with mom but I can't. I just saw mom in the couch, no options to click on it. And also I click in all the screen (TV, mom, couch) and nothing happens.

My concept of episode lengths is skewed since I started with 1-3, but given the quality of the content we got after the party, I won't complain about more of that!

I think EP4 was the sweet spot in terms of length. It wasn't backbracking like EP2, and it had more than EP1 or 3. I'll try to keep that level and improve as I can :)

Deeper into the story = bigger episode? Not an expert by any stretch, but I imagine having character design locked makes more time for.... ahem, getting creative with said designs.
