I finished Fujiyama sankaku-Houshou marine 3D Edition ×2

How is everyone doing in November, when it's still hot like summer and you can spend your days in short sleeves in japan?

I thought it would last a little longer, but it looks like it is going to get colder soon, so we need to change our clothes little by little. That being said, during the month of October, I was working on two Captain Marin by Takatori.

I think it has been a while since I posted progress on X and Youtube communities. I could have done this if it weren't for the painting samples and such, but recently I haven't been able to do much personal work.

I'm glad that people are looking at my work. Thank you very much!

┃Rambling talk & Some tips

I have been working on two identical kits at the same time for some time now, and while it is efficient, I have come to realize that it is quite difficult. I don't know why I do it as a matter of course...

I have no problem with this, especially if the work can be done in one shot with no fixes, but I find it quite tough when I have to repeatedly repaint the work as if I am being swamped. In fact, until recently, I was feeling a slump and thought it was a bit bad, but as I've been having my progress monitored, I think it has gotten much better.

I was relieved to receive the client's approval for both of the Captain Marin models I was working on this time, but since I have two more examples coming up in November and a video, I will spend most of my time doing nothing but working.

The color scheme is almost the same as when I created the sample, except that I added a little more gold shadow and darkened the hair color. I also changed the color of the tights from magenta to brown.

Commission work

If you look closely, the texture of the suit (chest) is also not glossy, but rather a slightly matte semi-gloss. Personally, I prefer the glossy look this time, which is not too shiny.

┃Example of packing

The Marine must be transported separately from the body because there is a high possibility that the hair parts will break if transported in an assembled state.

If the hair is wrapped with ”なんでもシート” like this, it will reduce the risk of catching the tips of the hair when removing the body.

*なんでもシート=Polyethylene sheet

As with any kit, when we receive a request for commission on behalf of a customer, we need to consider transportation and the customer's assembly skills, so it may be a bit difficult to find the right balance.

For sculptor, it would be better to send a kit that can be disassembled and reassembled to a certain degree, considering their assembly skills and transportation/packaging to the event, while for the general public, it would be desirable to be able to do the minimum assembly.

I would like to be able to not only complete the kit, but also think about what happens afterwards.

┃It may be more efficient to use the Pomodoro Technique to break up the concentration time.

Speaking of working, I am quite conscious of the Pomodoro Technique: I work for 30 minutes to an hour, and when I lose concentration, I take a break of 3 to 5 minutes, which surprisingly allows me to concentrate for about 5 to 6 hours. I find this to be very effective, especially when the work tends to be monotonous, such as sanding.

When it comes to painting, I have more things to think about, so I can concentrate even if I don't have to think, but when I'm working without using my head, I get distracted by many things...

For a while now, I've been listening to Youtube as my background music, playing VTubers' videos and other content related to biology and space. I don't concentrate on watching them, but rather just listen to them and let them become the noise of my daily life.

Of course, I don't remember anything about the content. There is nothing wrong with that because I should not devote resources to it.

┃Not enough people to paint? I'm get contacted commercial manufacturer jobs but...

At the moment I have too much to do and not enough to do myself, but then I received a job offer from a manufacturer...but I turned it down because I have a lot of work to do until next year. Sorry...

I am a bit worried that there are not enough people who can make painting samples, because even paint players like me are hearing about it.

New makers are releasing more and more new products, and I wonder if the number of 3D sculptor is increasing, but it seems to be hard to find enough people to make painting samples...

As for the situation overseas(out side japan), I heard that the number of 3D sculptor is increasing, but there are almost no people who can paint. I was convinced that this is quite understandable considering the situation.

I think it is important to hear about this situation from various people, so I will try to go to events in the future with the attitude of listening to what they have to say as much as possible.

Hello Sukima-san! It seems this post lost some of its images

Hi Sukima. Thank you for your insightful news and updates. I myself is a new GK painter and I'm hoping if you can share some tips or make an article on how to pack and protect painted GK during shipment to customers. I understand that every kit will be different but I'm looking for guidelines on how to plan the part separation and packaging. I believe customers should do as little as possible to get the full kit assembled while getting a pristine kit.
