Hello all,
(There’s an audio version of this attached below as an MP3 for those of you who despise reading. Oh and Freya was well behaved, so there's a cat photo also.)
You may notice I’ve put nothing out for the last quite some time now. Just between you and me, I’ve been working on three videos, and I’d quite like to release them simultaneously, or very close together anyway.
I started and abandoned a lot of videos too because they were shit.
I stopped sleeping for a bit, because…biology? I wondered if a video about sleep might be interesting, so decided to willfully keep not sleeping for a few days and see what happened. You go properly mental is what happens. Hallucinations at the corners of one’s eyes, falling asleep for half a second or so standing up, an inability to maintain personal hygiene. (Maybe that last one is when I’m rested too but)
About 72 hours in a better idea for a video fell into my head courtesy of coffee and I thought I’d make that instead, alongside the other two. So please hang tight; I’m polishing everything up and when they’re ready, out they go.
One is about a message from space, sort of.
One is about making stuff, and a very overdue cheers the million subscribers thing.
And one is about a horse. And a living star. And we’ll see how that turns out.
I can only work as fast as I can work, and I refuse to put out shit, or things I think are shit, so I hope you haven’t minded the wait. And I hope the wait is actually worth it.
It goes without saying I won’t be accepting your kind patronage, last month was more than enough to get all the footage I needed. But I just thought I’d check in and see what the happy haps are with you.
I won’t talk about the book until it’s ready either, but that’s coming along too.
I’ve started dabbling with Dungeons 3, a videogame, in the free evenings and it’s fucking brilliant, or I really dig it anyway. It’s funny, one always romanticizes the video games one played as a kid, and I fondly remember Dungeon Keeper, Populous, Monkey Island, Microsoft Space Simulator, all sorts, but we’re living in a fucking amazing age of gaming now where when I do have time, I can’t decide what to play, and if you think about it, that’s probably a more preferable situation than the reverse.
Something interesting happened last week or so which is I fractured my knee. But that wasn’t the interesting part. The way I did it was I was in a bar, sober I add for context, and this bar was missing a panel in the floor to the left of me. Being blind on the left side, I just stepped into this gaping hole and my leg went down into it. And my other knee took the fall.
Anyway it didn’t hurt that much, but suddenly I came over all hot and strange and went outside for a bit, threw up and passed out. I’d obviously gone into shock and the next day sure enough, turns out from an x-ray the knee is fucked, but how does your body know instantly that it isn’t just a graze or a cut, but something dangerous and internal gone wrong and send you into shock? The pain really wasn’t that bad at first.
I always wonder the same with healing. How does your body know that there’s a cut on your hand or something and only to repair mostly that bit and not the rest of the healthy areas? I appreciate this phenomenon is called cancer when it goes wrong, but come on, that’s not so common, among the young anyway.
And that makes you wonder, when we crack ageing and no one has to die of natural causes, say you live for four hundred years; well you’re only designed to store a few decades of memories, what happens to brains that have been alive for centuries? Do your fifties and sixties get pushed out of your memory just like your years as a baby or what? We still don’t know why people don’t remember stuff from infancy anyway, but ahhh, whatever – fun to think about.
Cool. This has just been a note to say thanks for hanging on, stuff will be out shortly and I promise it will be different to say the least; I just want to make sure it’s as perfect as I can get it.
I hope you’re doing well, I hope you’re projects are going well, and you’re having a lovely time of existing,
A huge thank you for continuing to support my stuff, your patronage last month made everything this month possible, lots of gratitude from myself,
All the very, very best wishes, and hope the weather and the skies are lovely wherever you are in the world,
Ex.
