Like I said somewhere, I'm gonna start doing static images in-between animations. I can quickly do 'em, and they boost my morale a decent amount. I'm also interested in seeing how my art stands on its own without the movement aspect. I think the animation part gives it an "unfair" advantage and maybe makes it look better than it actually is. I recently had an artist objectively way way better than me tell me "If I had your skills-" and it deeply disturbed me. Like, I have no idea how to do shadows, and my hands are awful. If my animations kick ass but my static pieces flop hard, then I'll know where my weaknesses are and I can work on them. I don't just want to be a great animator one day, I want to be a great artist one day, too.

"Kyde," you say, "what is this boomer shit? I wasn't even alive when Half Life 2 came out. When are you gonna post more anime girls?" No need to get hostile, figment of my imagination. Don't you dear sweet darlings worry, I AM working on animations again, and it's been a lot of fun. It's wild, it feels almost "brand-new" to me, like I have to figure out how to do it again. My mental state is like a fragile newborn dear tentatively taking its first wobbly steps, and I've been adjusting to the new normal of my life. But, I've definitely been getting back into it. I'll be posting moving things again, soon.
