This is like the WORST album of hers for you to start off with tbh. She has had some good albums but her recent albums have been on a decline. I suggest you listen to her albums prior to this. This was more of a d-ride to her fame rn but the lead up albums to her current peak definitely makes it reasonable she is where she is now.

There are so many fire older songs by other artists that does this style a million times better. And the lyrics stick out like a sore thumb. You can't even get lost in the melodies. Also, not to compare but this argument is always brought up. Swifties love to flex that she writes all of her songs and only has one or two producers on a song, usually the same guy. But to me that is her biggest downfall, because it leads to boring repetitive music that lacks creativity. They criticize Beyonce for having so many people credited on every track, but it SHOWS. Even if I don't vibe with a song, you can tell it's been meticulously crafted with a lot of detail. That ingenuity is missing in this album.

The amount of times I thought the chorus was the prechorus just to be let down was CRAZYYYYYY. It would somewhat build up, and then fall flat every time, makes the whole song boring. This album was just word dumps, talk singing, same melodies, rhythms, beats, everything the whole way. Once in a while she switched it up and I also didnt like it bc it was that synth pop "video game" beat you brought up and thats not my style. I did like the Florida song tho mostly bc of Florence's voice, it really just showed me why I don't vibe with Taylor, her voice is boring to me and has no character. Even when you mentioned papa dont preach it made it clear, bc even with similar themes there is a clear difference in the production, melodies, singing, etc. Her music is not dynamic enough, and especially not for 31 songsssssssssss

What truly disappoints me about this album is the minimalist approach to the instrumentals. I find myself missing the richness and depth of the music. Additionally, the effects on her voice feel repetitive, resembling those used in her previous four albums. as someone who loves taylor, this was her worst album FOR SURE. it’s a shame that after reaching the peak of her career, this is what she put out. reputation is definitely her best album and VERY PRODUCTION HEAVY. it’s darker and it came out in 2017, after the whole kim/kanye situation in 2016. it was taylor’s “come back” and an amazing album if you ever wanna consider giving that a go (even on your own, not as a reaction, ITS NOT A REQUEST PLS) because yeah… this album from taylor is not it.
