BD - Chapter 365 - Breezy Bee-cision

And now, it was time for Belissar to check out his first Air rooms…

Please select a room:

- Windy Canyon (Rarity: Uncommon, Type: Air, Ground, Field)

- Stormy Coast (Rarity: Uncommon, Type: Air, Water, Lightning, Field)

- Tornado Plains (Rarity: Uncommon, Type: Air, Nature, Field)

Belissar tilted his head. All uncommons this time, huh? But a moment later, he blinked, then chuckled and shook his head. After all the rares and epics and dragonvein rooms from the God of Light, his sense of what was normal was drifting. Besides, it wasn’t the rarity of a room that mattered, but how well it fit into his Tower. So, it was time to see how these rooms might.

Windy Canyon

Type: Air, Ground, Field

Innate Features: Natural Wind Tunnel

Mana upkeep: 10

Description: A rocky canyon that forms a natural wind tunnel. Strong winds constantly blow in between the walls, pushing against anyone attempting to traverse it. As the entrances and exits to the room may be placed up the cliffs along narrow paths, the wind might even present a mortal danger.

The terrain naturally benefits flying and Air type monsters, though only if they have a means of flying through the wind. In addition, Ground type monsters can burrow into both the ground and walls for ambushes.

Belissar nodded along, this one was fairly simple to understand. Big cliffs and lots of wind, the preview also showed him narrow paths along the sides of the cliffs he could force invaders to travel on. It would naturally be a great place for his bees to fight, as they could fly around all over while non-flying invaders would be stuck against the walls with barely any room to maneuver.

“Lots of wind…so, good for Fourth of the Seventh? Amazing, incredible!”

The First of the Fifth’s First Daughter seemed to like the room, not even waiting to ask the hive of hives before giving her reply. Belissar grinned.

“It seems that way. It says the wind could cause trouble for flying monsters so that might be a problem for other bees, but the Fourth of the Seventh’s nomadic and breeze bees can create their own wind, right? Plus, it also says Ground bees could burrow in the walls, so that’d be perfect for the tunneling nomadic bees, right?”

The First of the Fifth’s First Daughter’s dance intensified.

“AMAZING, INCREDIBLE! ROOM FOR FOURTH OF THE SEVENTH!”

Belissar blinked as the monster bee empress took off and zipped around him at her maximum speed. Eventually, though, he could only smile in the face of her sheer joy. He had no question as to which room she preferred.

All in all, he tended to agree, the room sounded perfect for the breeze and nomadic bees, both normal and tunneling varieties. The Fourth of the Seventh had also already demonstrated she could use her wind abilities to support other bees, so perhaps with their help the rest of his bees could fight here as well. The only question would be if he could plant flowers there…but he already had soaring beeblossom that could just fly through the canyon and he had already seen flowers growing along rocky cliffs in Tarwantrad’s dungeon, so he wasn’t too worried.

The air rooms were already off to a good start, it seemed, so Belissar looked forward to the next…

Stormy Coast

Type: Air, Water, Lightning, Field

Innate Features: Sea Storms

Mana upkeep: 20

Description: A coastline where warm and cold air collide, creating powerful winds, massive waves, and frequent storms. Winds howl across the sea while huge waves batter the rocky cliffs, creating a dangerous environment in and of themselves. The chaotic air above also creates frequent thunderstorms, intensifying the waves while raining down lightning.

A difficult environment for most land-based and flying living things. Water type monsters can thrive here but only if they can avoid being smashed against the cliffs by the waves.

Belissar sat silently after he finished reading the description. This room certainly sounded impressive. Big waves of water, constant wind, and even thunderstorms? He could only imagine what might happen if he put a mana storm on top of it all.

But…he would probably have to, because this would be another room his bees couldn’t fight in since it was dangerous for fliers too, much less his relatively small and light bees. The only bees that might be able to were the swimming bees, but would they be able to handle huge waves battering against rocky cliffs? He wasn’t sure, and they already had several other Water rooms they hadn’t adapted to yet. So, unless his swimming bees managed to prove his fears wrong, this would be purely a hazard room, like the Abyssal Trench.

The Abyssal Trench was doing a good job all on its own at the moment…but Starami’s forces had ultimately gotten past it. This room, for all its powerful storms, might be less difficult for them. Couldn’t the stronger Water Tower Guard just swim through the waves if he could swim through the Abyssal Trench? Or could one of the flying Tower Guards handle a storm? The one they killed did get hurt by Beero’s lightning…but that was after he had already dropped his mana scale defense…

Belissar glanced over at the First of the Fifth’s First Daughter but she had calmed down and wasn’t dancing yet. He could feel her mana go out to the hive of hives and back before she replied.

“Third of the Eighth a little interested but doesn’t know if can swim in. Rest of hive of hives doesn’t know if good or not. Sorry.”

Belissar shook his head.

“No, it’s fine. I don’t think this is a normal place for bees…”

Belissar…decided to pass over it for now. He had enough rooms the bees couldn’t use right now. And who knew? The Fourth of the Seventh could create wind and so could presumably create waves, while Beero and the hive of the fallen could create lightning. Maybe they could create a similar room if they really wanted to?

And that left the last choice.

Tornado Plains

Type: Air, Nature, Field

Innate Features: Tornados, Storms

Mana upkeep: 20

Description: A grassland where warm and cold air collide unimpeded, creating the perfect conditions for the formation of tornados and storms. Tornados will form with alarming regularity, tearing through the room, while the occasional thunderstorm can start massive wildfires, particularly after a dry spell.

Despite that, plant life is abundant, albeit favoring fast-growing species that can regrow quickly after storms and fires. Air type monsters can make use of the unobstructed and chaotic winds, but should take care during the storms.

Belissar’s eyes widened. Tornados…he hadn’t encountered them, but he knew of them as the symbol of the God of Air’s wrath. Supposedly they were massive vortexes of powerful wind that could uproot trees and lift houses into the sky, much less people. Or maybe shades…and this room was supposedly just uncommon? Not rare or epic?

In any case, Belissar considered his biggest criteria: what about the bees? This room was another kind of grassland, like the Flower Meadow, so presumably flowers would grow there too and that’d make it fine for bees…when there wasn’t a tornado or thunderstorm or wildfire. The bees would have to be careful around the first two…but they did have a fire resistance perk and the Third of the Sixth if push came to shove. In fact…if lightning could form wildfires, then couldn’t the Third of the Sixth if she wanted to? Say, if she needed to burn lots of things to strengthen her blessing from the God of Fire?

Weirdly enough, this room might make for a good fire room. Like his old pit trap method, but on a room-sized scale. And Urubran had plants that would intentionally catch fire, didn’t he?

In any case, the First of the Fifth’s First Daughter was finished asking the hive of hives. But, instead of a report, she hesitantly danced a question.

“Room…good for Fourth of the Seventh?”

Belissar rubbed his chin a bit before shrugging.

“I’m not sure. There’s wind again, but a lot stronger than the canyon’s wind, so I don’t know if she can safely fly through it. If she could that’d be amazing but I think it’s probably dangerous…”

The First of the Fifth’s First Daughter stood still for a while before slowly beginning to dance.

“…like first room, but because is good for Fourth of the Seventh. Hive of hives…doesn’t know which room best. King should choose, King knows things hive of hives doesn’t.”

Belissar smiled helplessly at that. He wanted to refute her, but he knew it was pointless so he decided to try his best to live up to the bees’ expectations as best he could.

The Stormy Coast was out for now as he really wanted a room his bees could interact with, so it was between the Windy Canyon and the Tornado plains. The canyon definitely seemed better for his bees at the moment, but the Tornado Plains were certainly more naturally powerful. If bees could adapt to that room like the burning bees had the lava fields, he could get powerful new bees and a powerful new room. If they could, that was…

Belissar observed the Fourth of the Seventh and her breeze and nomadic bees as he thought about it. He watched them fly in and out of the Bee City, traveling all across the Tower and to the world outside…

Then it hit him.

“Ok, I think we take the Tornado Plains. It might be dangerous but…it seems like the tornados don’t happen all the time. The Fourth of the Seventh or whatever bees want to forage and fight in the room can travel to it through the shortcuts and just leave if a storm grows too dangerous.”

The First of the Fifth’s First Daughter started a rapid dance.

“Like Fourth of the Seventh’s Second Daughter and Fairy Grove!”

Belissar blinked and then grinned.

“Yes, exactly! The room is dangerous but not so dangerous you can’t visit, so the hive of hives can take its time to adapt to it! And we can still use it to help with the defense even if it turns out the bee army can’t fight in it just yet.”

The First of the Fifth’s First Daughter only had one reply.

“Amazing, incredible! King is best king!”

Belissar smiled back at her.

“And bees are best bees.”

Tornado Plains now available!

And with that, all the choices were made for now. Belissar moved to start implementing the options right away, starting with one that might just be able to help the hive of hives deal with dangerous rooms…

“Great, then, ready to meet some new bees?”

Author’s Note:

Air rooms…are kind of surprisingly bad for fliers, huh? Which means…they may not be the best for the bees…if it weren’t for the Fourth of the Seventh, that is! Amazing, incredible! She’s already prepared for the new rooms she didn’t even know about! As expected of the most genius and innovative queen! This is why the First of the Fifth’s First Daughter wants all bees to follow in her example!

And now, finally, the moment we’ve been waiting for. Best dungeon master will finally, finally, add new bees to the dungeon once again!

Anyways!

Will the tornados be helpful for the hive of hives? What amazing, incredible solution will the Fourth of the Seventh have for such a room? Can the new bees help? Tune in next time, to find out!

Comments

Tornado room sounds cool but the new bees are the most important part. I wonder if they'll prefer the light room or if they'll want to live with the karnuq or the pixies. Thanks for writing. :)

Butlericfy

The Tornado Plains room is the best one to make the Windy Canyon one. Get a dirt tunnel, remove the ceiling, open a shortcut in both ends of the tunnels to let the wind flow from one to another.

CataFlan

The nomadic and breeze bees can control wind.

CataFlan

TFTBees!

CataFlan

Honestly if he could get his hands on wind sprite or something that could help the bees, or a type of bee, that could control the wind/tornadoes, that room would be a great force. That or shelter plants to hide in during tornadoes.

Bob Bryan

Thanks for the chapter! Out of all the rooms the tornado room is a good option the windy canyon would just probably end up being a varioation of the dirt tunnels room full of traps and all of that. But with how Beliisaar is planning to use the Tornado room, just filling it with trapps and probably spreading some mana flowers throughout it it would make a good room for 3rd of the 6th to just light on fire, i mean Fire tornados are thing that sometimes happens. And with the room mentioning cold and warm air maiking tornados once belissar gets some cold bees he might be able to start generating tornados on purpose. 3rd of the 6th makes hot air and guide it, the evnetual cold bee makes cold air and guide it, 4th of the 7ths breeze beeze mix the cold and hot air and generate a tornado in the room, and breeze or nomadic battle casters might be able to guide the tornado. I mean the room is made to randomly make tornados and storms it is probably alot easily to do so on purpose in that enviorment.

Thanks for the chapter, loved it. All the air rooms are interesting. I wonder if 4th of 7th could trigger tornadoes in the future, In a room already predispositioned toward them it should be possible. Definitely dangerous, but if you can trigger tornadoes and then escape through a shortcut it would be devastating.

Fernando Oliveira

That, could manage the dragon/wyvern issue too.... winds like that will snap wings...

Yeslek Nnamhctits

TFTC! Hmm, no mention of Fourth of the Eighth for either lighting room? Or making lightning start fires? Poor Lastborn, being forgotten yet again! Though I do wonder about the Tornado Plains being modified into a Phoenix Forest. That plus the Firestorms room feature seem ideal for that room.

Lisa

I cant wait for tornado-bees
