Look! It's the slide! You know, the slide! From that Japanese cartoon! The ghost shell or whatever…
Well a couple weeks ago there was this kind of short lived art trend of drawing characters doing the Akira slide and I thought it'd be fun to do it with Vero because… well, I really like to draw Vero.
And I don't remember where but I do remember mentioning she had a motorcycle and that it was weird that I haven't really posted anything with Vero riding it.
I've been wanting to draw her and her bike for a while but I haven't been able to decide on a story or composition, or even a model for the bike. I don't want it to be too fancy, but I also don't want to draw a ton of details and parts everytime I draw it. I decided this model is something of a good middle point.
The original plan was to trace over an old toy motorcycle I have from my childhood. And not any bike, it's the MX9 N-Tek Cycle! You guys remember Max Steel? It was huge in Mexico in the 2000s. All the boys in my town had one and we would go to the park to play and bully the kids who got “Action Men” instead. Just kidding. My point here is that even that toy had too many parts to draw.
This piece started as a simple sketch that I finished to break an art block I've been in for a couple of days and also I really wanted to finish something before I start working on commission this week.
