Closing Time [1-6]

Or.

The band goes shopping!

But you knew that already.

Pages 7-12

Pages 13-18

Pages 19-24

Yes! This is in fact the new 6 pages for this comic! If you check you'll notice that I already have fixed the numbering on the earlier pages, which was a very annoying job and that's totally my fault because I did it manually and I kept messing up the counting. I had to do it like 4 times.

Before I warned that the comic could be changed retroactively and it just happened but don't worry, no further changes have been made besides some fixes on a background on page 17 (formerly known as page 11)

Also worry not. I've been saying that this update would be a two parter and it is, Pages 25 - 30 (formerly known as pages 19 -24) will be posted sometime in the next 24 hours. Is more than probable that by the time you read this they are already posted.

I'm using the schedule feature that Patreon just added.

I had mentioned already that I had written a few pages for a new intro for the comic and I was going to left them for the end and do them after I was finished with the rest of the comic but in the middle of working on pages 19- 24 that now will be 25-30 I decided that it made more sense to make them now and establish the context for the rest of the comic. For example:

Now we all know that this comic is a prequel!

Tak is back in town and she of course knows all in the band but she still has some catching up to do.

And that gave me the opportunity of dropping some micro doses of lore.

Like Zara's  ex boyfriend who the band are very careful not to mention since their last break up. Long story short they have been an on and off thing since highschool and honestly, over time it got a bit toxic. They always ended up coming back together but their last breakup did seem a bit more final. For a bit there Zara would get upset just if someone mentioned him.

There's one detail I really liked but I very unfortunately didn't get to mention in the comic without it feeling a bit forced and it is that the band used to have a couple of songs that they don't play anymore and it's because those were Zara's about him.

But for real, she's better now.

I also got to name drop Evelyn, Diana's ex, though I don't love how I did it. Feels a bit forced like I mentioned before. One of these days I'll get more into their relationship but for the moment let's just say she was a bit too hardcore, Diana and honestly the band discovered they were way more chill.

It's finally established that Tak designed the band’s logo.

And, finally for now, a very important thing I finally got to do with these pages is having the band actually do band stuff in the comics!

Well, most comics I've done so far the band has been mostly chilling but with this comic being so long I realized it could work as an entry point, and it would be a good idea to use it to establish my characters as a rock band.

But it also establishes a dynamic that can be seen later.

Zara is the most positive member of the band and she genuinely is that, but sometimes she has to force that out of her to keep the morale of the group high, at least high enough to keep going.

And this is set up for a page later in the comic when she opens up a bit about it to RJ.

At least that's the idea lol.

It's weird to talk about it considering that their music so far exists only as an hypothesis but the way I see it Davo is something like the brain of the band, but Zara is clearly the heart.

If you think about it, comics are possibly the funniest possible medium for telling the story of a band. At least in writing you could describe the music with words.

The setting of the band playing at a book fair and being followed immediately by a teacher play is based 100% on a real story.

A family member of mine was assisting a music school that armed an ensemble and got a gig at a local book fair and immediately were followed by a play, though I didn't stay to see it so I don't really know if the play got more audience in real life.

I chose “El Juego que Jugamos” as the play here because I fell asleep during it while watching it once, and I'm not even saying it's a bad play, because I don't know, I didn't even see it complete (lol). Not even the play’s fault to be fair. I had to see it for a school assignment in high school and the tickets they gave us were for a theater an hour away from where I lived at 8:00 am and on a Sunday. I would have fallen asleep even if it was The Lion King or something.

This part features the second crowd scene I've done for this comic but I came up with a cool trick to ease the job this time. If you look closely you'll notice that all the characters were done all in black and white. And later I used the lighting to suggest color.

Finally, you have already seen it obviously but as a bonus page I'm adding the extended version of Diana and Lil’s flashback bubble because I just love how that one came up and it's a bit of a shame that it ended up being so small in the page.

Nice to know they’re trying to build up their reputation of being a band, the scenario feels realistically beautiful ^^

Sky

Huh, hadn't tought of that, that's funny lol

So it sounds like Lil&Diego dating is a secret to them and no one else, while RJ&Zara dating is just a secret to no one! X3

Morlund

Yeah, I've been keeping the prequel thing as a secret but there were some clues. I forgot to add in the ext, I also got to finally mention Diego in the comics. He and Lil are still somehow clueless to the fact that they're basically dating atm, or at least that's what it looks like. He's going to appear in one of the comics I'll do after this one so here's a bit of foreshadowing lol

The order is how I'm publishing them except for the RJ and Zara reveal comic which now is supposed to be right before or right after this one

So it seems the comic is like a surprise Star Wars where the first entry comes later and then the whole thing turns out to be a prequel...I love it! And that also means Zara&RJ aren't yet 'together' in this like it seemed before which makes their conversations in the previous/next pages strangely even more heartwarming, knowing that they had a great rapport even before hooking up like they were made for each other.^^ (And technically they are ;P ) 'What about Diego' indeed XP Also heartbroken flashback Zara is equal parts adorable and sad, though more of the former since we all know things get much better. ;)

I love this thing so much! This is the longest comic you've ever made but like said before, it's like watching a television show ^^! And I was thinking... Now that you got a lot of comics done around here... Do you have like a timeline for them or are they "happening" as you publish them 🤔?
