She was always meant to play guitar.
She's the guitarist of the WornDown Children.
She feels a lot and she's awful at hiding it, now matter how hard she tries, and she tries.
She always feels like she's waiting for something. God knows what.
Even now she's figuring out how to be herself.
When she was 15 she fell in love with a friend of hers in highschool.
A girl named Anna that a year after that would have become a mother and marry her highschool sweetheart and father of the kid. In that order.
Diana started writing songs during that time. At first they were supposed to be heard by none until she was contacted by Zara and Liliana. Two girls she had befriended at a small music school when they were younger. They were making music too.
Over time more people joined the effort and the band was complete.
Diana met music very early as, when she was born, her grandfather's wish of having at least one of his grandkids inherit his passion finally came true.
They were very close, he taught her a lot. He gave living from music a try when he was young, but raising a family made him put a long pause on that. Now she will succeed where he failed, he thinks. Or she won't. Honestly he’s just happy seeing her giving it a try.
She was born ten years after her younger brother and 15 after the oldest. So she was raised by them as much as by her parents.
She currently lives with two of her bandmates. Zara and Liliana, now Lil.
…
On the picture.
Last week I mentioned that I wanted to make a sort of introduction post for my characters but I wasn't sure how to do it. Well I here's this.
The idea here is a new series of photos that, in universe, would be taken by Tak as she tags along the band while touring, capturing moments of the band where you can get a feel of who they are.
And I would use some of these as the introduction for the band members. Give a little bit of the Lore that's already available and a little bit of new one.
And I say “some” because this is an idea I've had for a while and Ideally it would go beyond the “character ones” and show some other aspects, but by tying that project to the character introduction ones I'm guaranteeing that there's gonna be at least 6 of these.
Hopefully.
To be honest, on the other hand, I'm still also considering updating the reference sheets. But If I do that, that'd be a project for next year. I have a lot on my hands for this one.
In this specific picture Tak caught Diana with her guard down and a little tired as the band get off the band and looked at the cheap motel they're gonna spend the night at. A concept I already had touched on before but even then I mentioned that there were some ideas that I had to scrap. Like the neon color of the hotel sign over Diana.
For these pictures, like here, I want to fake depth of field, blur and lense flares to make the picture feel more grounded, like real in-universe photos.
Hey guys, Check out this useless paragraph: These are inspired by the work of a photographer that I learned from on college, whose name sadly I don't remember, I was never good at taking notes, and whose work I remember well but sadly I can't describe in words well enough to look for it on Google.
So there's that.
But one of the things I do remember well is how their work contrasted against the work of most of the other photographers we studied in that class where the compositions were completely incidental and the photos had movement blur all the time.
There are two versions of the picture, one is the original and another one without the fake focal length as, even though I made the background with the idea of blurring it out so it's more about the shapes than the details, I still wanted a version with it. It kind of shows how crazy I am making a whole background and only to destroy it. Lol.
This piece was 99% done on Procreate except for a tiny retouch at the very end so I'll be posting a time laps later.
The setting for this piece is based on an avenue of Amecameca in front of a hotel I stayed at once, the parking lot of a 24 hour open drug store with a lot of signs in my town and a convenience store in Veracruz named Yepas! That's where the “Yep…” SIgn comes from actually. Another fun fact is that if you look really close in this picture you’ll notice the “San Paul” drug store logo that I made up is the same one in Ian’s plastic bag (I’m the king of world building*)
