"Breaking the Band's Code: Bears and Birds biggest secrets finally revealed"
So yeah. They actually thought they were being sneaky. How silly is that?
There are 2 versions of page 2 because I noticed a dialogue had double meaning by accident. I corrected it as if Diana had noticed too, but now I'm not sure which one I like more.
I've been naming these comics as songs, and for this one I came up with a bunch of songs about “Secret Love” or stuff like that, but in the end I decided on a Genesis song about aliens because that's a silly idea and all of this is pretty silly. Though the Tittle could easily change in the future if I feel like it.
Here's a thing I wrote about this comic right after making it with some changes. I was going to post it then but stuff happened.
Here's the fourth (or fifth?) comic of this new series I've been doing though it's not necessarily intended to be released in that order.
Lore time! In this comic RJ and Zara have been secretly dating for a couple of months. They decided to keep their thing a secret using the excuse of how it could mess up the group dynamics or make things awkward and all those things, but the actual truth is that they did it because they thought it was fun. They got a rush from keeping things secret but it turns out they are really bad at keeping those.
Even if other bandmates had had problems with them dating, they would have discovered it so long ago that by now they got used to the idea.
Also Tak isn't here but she also knows. In fact, she found out first.
I actually know how exactly every member of the gang figured it out but I'm keeping that one dark in case I want to make a follow-up prequel comic later on.
One thing I really liked about this one is that I actually got to fit the whole band on it., and play a bit with their group dynamic. It's a bit hard to do it on short comics like this but I think I'm getting better at it.
Fun fact, this was for a moment to be the official introduction of Lola “The nosey waitress/cook” into the band Lore™. The idea was for a moment to have her just appear one day and then become A recurring character and no one would know who she is except for Diana. And then I could explain her “origin” . I may still go with that though. I'd just have to change the comic order.
On the other hand, I think they go kind of often to this other restaurant Lola works at but they had never noticed her until Diana met her at the other place and I kind of wanted to make another comic explaining that between that one and this one. But I don't want it just to be about lore logistics so I'd have to think on how to make it.
This thing was more or less the plan from the beginning with Zara and RJ. I always draw them together, though not necessarily explicitly as a couple, yet after so long it becomes kind of obvious that when the big surprise revelation comes, it would be more of a surprise for them than the hypothetical audience.
I actually learned a lot from making this comic as something kind of funny happened. I first finished a version of this comic that just didn't feel right. And after staring at it for 40 mins I realized what the problem was. Assuming that the comic is supposed to be read from left to right, which it is, the order of the characters in the composition ran opposite to the importance of their dialogues. And I should have realized that while spending hours trying to find a way to make the original order of the speech bubbles make sense. But I didn't.
Just by flipping the panels the whole thing had such a better flow to it.
I'm just mentioning this cause it was a whole week arc for me.
