Missing the encore

A friend of Jhonny got sick. Don't worry about him, he's fine but he has to rest for a while. Too bad for him though. He has had a ticket for an upcoming music festival for months and now he's gonna miss it.

Anyway, so that it wouldn't be wasted, he had the ticket sent to his friend Jhonny. He’s been down lately since his girl left him some months ago and could use a distraction.

It is unfortunate that Jhonny has a lot of work to do though. The ticket looked at him from the half open drawer on his desk.

Very unfortunate indeed… For his boss. Jhonny walks out of his office claiming to feel sick. No one really notices. He has escaped,  and now he's on the way to the festival. 

Eve on the other hand had had this day planned out with her friends for days now. She woke up at the apartment she had been living in since last year since she broke up with her boyfriend. It was a very messy break-up.she found out he had been cheating on her for some time.

She had to move out of his place and luckily it just so happens that a friend of hers and her roommate were looking for someone to live with them in a room that was left empty after their last roommate dropped out of college and moved out of town.

Sadly for Eve’s friend she didn't wake up feeling ready that day. She has always had a weak stomach. Eve of course offered to stay with her but she insisted that Eve and her roommate went without her. And after discussing it for a while she convinced them. She told them she’d catch up with them when she feels better. That won't be happening tonight but don't worry she'll be fine

They hopped into the old car of one of them. An old lemon that broke a km away from the place. Eve's roommate decided to stay there and wait for the tow truck but he told her to go ahead and he’ll catch up with her later.

Johnny and Eve bumped into each other there by pure coincidence there. And they really liked each other from the beginning. They had a really lovely time together. And will probably be seeing each other again soon. They had met before, kinda, but they'll never know.

This piece I made as a sort of opposite piece to the one with the band playing in the foreground. Later and from the other side of the crowd. While drawing the crowd on that one was when I decided Johnny and Eve would end up together, just as a fun bit. But I liked it that much that I decided to expand that idea here.

You can see Zara making a “cameo” on one of the screens on the stage. The Worndown Children are playing the encore of their set before leaving the stage for the last band of the night. But for Eve and Johnny the music it's secondary by this point.

But a thing that you probably wouldn't notice at first sight is that Zara actually makes 2 cameos. See, at first when making this, it wasn't going to be the same concert as in the other piece. The stage wasn't going to be visible so the band playing was going to be a mystery and Zara would make a cameo watching the concert over RJ’s shoulders. Then when I decided I wanted TWDC playing instead. I changed but kind of lazily so just look for the red bird and the polar bear.

There's some other cameos but the one I really want to mention is Albert. You know, Albert! From Genesis 1:10!

The first song of their 10th album. Actually all the album is about him kinda… I put the character from the Duke album cover there and I made him a duck. Because of “Duke” of course but also because of the duck call that is listed in the instruments for the album but no one really seems to know when it is supposed to be playing.
