So, the vote is Over and we have a clear winner. The Sovngarde aftermath Quest. For those who aren't subscribed or on the Discord, lemme give you the quick rundown on why this is relevant and what it will contain.
Existing death Aftermath or Defeat mods for Skyrim are well established and come in many colors ans shapes, but they have the common issue that they are tailored towards combat.
If the cause of players Death is not a Bandit/Dragon/Chicken, but instead a piece of furniture, existing mods will likely fail to trigger and you will be stuck with an immersion breaking game reload.
And to Avoid that, I had the following Idea:
Create a custom scenario which can be triggered directly by Furnitures when the Player is a bit careless around them.
The ingame justification being as follows:
Usually only Nords who die in honorable Combat will end up here, but the Player will also end up here due to his special Dragonborn Status, despite simply dying from a spawned furniture or one of the Scenes involving them.
The Heroes there will obviously be less then impressed by this, and so they wont make the Dragonborns stay there very pleasant...
If the Player manages to escape their grasp, he´ll be able to return back to Tamriel and continue his Adventure.
Another Aspect I wanted to touch on is Followers. I want to add a mechanic where, once a follower dies in the regular world, their soul will also move on to Sovngarde as a captive where they can be rescued by the Player when he ends up there themselves. This would make the loss of a follower during regular play less of a game-breaking issue by making them retrievable, but still preserve the Gravitas of the Situation by making said Retrieval very hard and requiring the player to die themselves in order to attempt this.
Well, this is the Plan anyways. As this is rather large Idea, it will likely require multiple months and voting periods to be fully finished, but In the first step I will set up the basic gameplay loop as outlined earlier and update existing furnitures and Scenes from other mods so they can interact with this new System properly. Fleshing out the Misadventures within the Realm itself will probably be split of into separate parts on which I can work later.
As the Project is just about to start, I´m open to (feasible) suggestion for details on how exactly this will play out. Just hop over on the Discord and lets hear it if you think you have something good.
