Harshville Version 1.1.2 Preview + Poll Results

Hey everyone! Spring is finally upon us and the flip flops are starting to come out <3

So first some housekeeping. I recently held a poll asking the Creator tier if I should work on New Beijing Day 3 next or on Harshville. 13 people voted, with NB winning at 5, Harshville coming a close second at 4, and 4 people saying either was fine.

So it looks like I'll be doing Day 3 of New Beijing, which will be a pretty hefty update. Luckily while the poll was up I was already working on the next Harshville installment so don't despair :D

Current Roadmap: H 1.1.2 -> NB Day 3 -> H 1.1.3 -> ?

This update will add the long-simmering Hygiene system to the game, which you can see represented in the HUD by the pinkish bar of soap! Hygiene will add yet another layer of difficulty to the game because many jobs and people won't want to deal with you if you aren't clean, and there will be a lot of things that make you dirty ;)

Hygiene will also go down automatically when sleeping and taking naps, similar to hunger. This first iteration will be pretty limited: not everything that should lower hygiene will do so, and only the massage parlor will really care about you being clean. The only place you can wash up will be in your apartment sink, which will be like a coin operated deal. 5 bits for 10 hygiene.

A quick note on the order of HUD stats: I decided to put them in the order of most visceral and internal to most external to your character.

1) Hunger and Stamina are literally your vitals

2) Hygiene is a step more external to your character. It's part of you but on the outside (in terms of dirtiness)

3) Reputation is completely outside your character. You can affect it only indirectly, unlike hygiene where you can at least wash yourself

4) Day is not only external, but there's nothing you can do about it. So it goes last

This should be a good way to inform where any future HUD elements go too.

The other part of the update is a continuation of Leah's arc. If you've reached the end of her current story, she'll be wanting to go to the casino with you as long as you have enough money. Your treat, of course :D
