Leonard's comment about having to spend another night in front of the Apartment dressed like one of the Village People is in reference to a fairly famous late 70's American disco group called "The Village People"; their most famous song is probably "Y.M.C.A."(It was the song that Monica and her fellow diner staff had to dance to and act out the letters Y-M-C-A on top of the diner counter whenever a customer put coins in the jukebox causing that song to play😉).
I think there were maybe 5 people that comprised the group: one dressed as a Native American, another as a Cowboy, one as a biker, another as a sailor and one dressed as a Construction worker similar to Leonard's safety drill get-up complete with hard hat & safety vest.🦺👷😁😄

Fun fact: the character Buzz Lightyear WAS actually named for Buzz Aldrin. To this day still, Buzz Aldrin holds the title rights to the character.

The show is ridiculous, but John Ritter was charming and hilarious. Also, Mr. Roper was ok with Jack living with the ladies because they said he was gay

Three's Company...oh, the childhood memories. A comedy from the late 1970s/early 80s that relied on misunderstandings, mishaps, and pratfalls and other physical comedy. Norman Fell played Mr. Roper (that's who Howard was talking about), and he was a comedic genius. He broke the 4th wall when it was almost unheard of to do that.
It was about a man, played by the iconic John Ritter, who was living platonically with two women in an apartment building owned and lived in by the Ropers, a dysfunctional couple who loved to snipe at each other. I think it went a total of 8 seasons.
It was also on well past my bedtime, but I would sneak out and hide to watch it. My parents caught me one night, realized how much I loved the show, and permanently moved my bedtime up by half an hour so that I could watch it! For a little kid, that was a very big deal.
