Most TV shows didn't want to have babies around because it was very difficult. So after doing quite a lot showing daddy Angel, they had to end it, I guess. And man, Wesley. Hate to see him making such a huge mistake. Though he wasn't around to see what was going along with the spiked blood. He could have said he wanted to take the baby until Angel was feeling better and handled whoever was behind it. Or he could have just said Holtz was coming after the baby and he wanted to take and hide Connor. Sure, Angel might have been pissed that Wes found and talked with Holtz without telling, but he could have just said he didn't have time, with all that was going on and all.

2024-11-16 00:38:21 +0000 UTCIMO, even without these constraints, the others would have an even harder time accepting that "The Father will kill the Son" than Wesley is having and would be much less willing to help with separating the two. In the Buffyverse, prophecies do come "true" albeit in unexpected ways. As a watcher, Wesley was trained to look at the bigger picture (for better or worse) and make sacrifices for the greater good (like Giles did with Glory/Ben) whereas most people might hesitate until it's too late. Going it alone also keeps the burden of any consequences squarely on HIS shoulders (and off of the people he cares about) should he turn out to be wrong. Doesn't make his actions right but it does fit his character.
