One thing I noticed in this rewatch of the episode. I love how they juxtapose the scenes flicking between rileys gang and the scoobies when both are discussing the demons. They difference in the language used by both groups makes it really clear how different both groups feel about their "job" of demon hunting and how they view the supernatural world. The scoobies start that scene by literally reading a poetic description of the demon, and discuss what it's plans might be, and then the scene moves to rileys gang describing the demon very literally (height, colour etc) very militaristic, black and white, straight up mission to kill it

2023-01-12 22:24:02 +0000 UTCFinally caught up to all the Buffys! Did you notice in the opening credits that Riley has achieved main star status and has is own intro montage? Interesting times ahead! It's now not spoiler-y to say he has a bigger part to play. I'm one of those people who really appreciates the character of Anya, and Spike, Giles, and Willow are among my top favorites among those currently represented (in other words, I miss Oz). Repeated viewings of the series has lowered Xander in my eyes, but part of that may have to do with a lot of his humor not aging particularly well into the 21st century. I still think he is integral to the series and couldn't imagine it without him.
