Kintsugi
Added 2023-10-06 20:59:01 +0000 UTCI did a series of these photos with Nicholas Freeman. Kintsugi is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with gold, thus turning a “flaw” into an essential & artistic part of a piece.
My good friend & frequent collaborator Cat Calico did the body paint (i will be her canvas until I’m dead thankyouverymuch).
I adore how this series came out. I got a lot of flack for them (go figure, the internet hates women who embrace their bodies), but they felt like such a personal & vulnerable part of who I am: turning broken moments into a glorious, beautiful part of your story. Embracing what broke you rather than trying to hide it. I’m really proud of how these pictures turned out.
