Saturday Update!

I can finally write a Saturday update about progress and not waiting 😩🙏💚

As I'm sure most of you know, beta testing has kicked off and is now in progress! I've gotten 150 testers, but a few are still stuck outside of the discord server. The last Saturday update has some comments from testers experiencing the issue and organizing themselves. As far as I understand, the main issue seems to be people on monthly payment schedules not being let in because their normal date of renewal hasn't passed [ so if they get charged on the 20th of every month, they might not be able to get in til the 20th ]. But I'm not really sure.

Most of the testers are active now though, and we've been making great progress!

Last week the beta testers caught a bunch of bugs, typos, shitty grammar, and other errors. I've managed to keep up fairly well in fixing them and updating the game. We've knocked out 5 version updates!

It seems as though we've already run pretty dry on addressable errors- which means I'll have more time to work on Memelord mode and bonus content! I've already switched to primarily working on Memelord mode on Friday. I'm eager to get more content in next week!

We also got steam achievements up and running, and I'll be adding a few more with the help of beta tester suggestions.

Overall, game development progress is smooth and finally going well! I believe the game is already in a releasable state now- now it's time to add some icing and make it a little sweeter for release.

Canada Post/Store Update

It's looking like I might be able to open my store again fairly soonish.

The dispute from the corporation and the union has gone on REALLY LONG, and now it's basically down to two options [ both require government interference ]. 1. Forcing a worker vote without the unions input [ bad for workers rights ], or 2. Forcing binding arbitration [ better for workers rights, since it forces the corp to work with the union on an agreement ]

Right now the government is forcing a vote by workers on the corporation's latest proposal. This is generally a bad thing for worker's rights since it bypasses the union's authority [ and workers are put at a disadvantage in their decisions because they're not lawyers and they're being told to vote on a 700 page proposal that's in legal jargon ].

My stalking of the Canada Post Corporate subreddit tells me that the workers are planning to vote 'No' though. In which case, I believe there will be no option left but for the government to force binding arbitration [ which is better for worker rights ].

I'm still gonna cautiously keep my store closed for this process because, let's be real, I am greasy game developer. I don't really know what's gonna happen. But I do think that things are being pushed towards a forced resolution either way soon. So fingers crossed for both stable mail and workers rights!!

Plushie Update

I got another big update on the plushie development! The company listened to my requests with the hair and the fabric colors [ very pleased! ] and they created another mockup with the correct colors and embroidery. It's super close now! They just need to fix a misaligned button spot and add on a couple printed lines on the back of his shirt, but it's pretty much looking like how the final plush will be now ^o^

I'm so happy with it now! ☺️

Next week I'll be beefing up Memelord some more and adding some more steam achievements 👍 The gears are finally moving and we are on track to release!!
