Saturday Update

Hello folks! It's the weekend and I have... very little news for you πŸ˜…

I want to start off with another thank you- this time for everyone's patience and understanding with the game's beta testing and launch delay. You've all been really kind, and I appreciate it a lot. I also gotten a lot of messages urging me to just take a break, and I appreciate that too.

After Wednesday's updates, I decided to just take time off and try to relax. I was able to spend more time with my family and connect with my family member undergoing various treatments for their illness [ things are going well I think! It's a very scary process, but they're receiving excellent care, including fast referrals, quick appointments, and mental health support- all for free because we are Canadian. I believe they are on the best possible path to become illness-free. I am deeply relieved. ]

On Thursday I spent most of the day relaxing and visiting- but I did get a small and almost worthless update from Steam:

I say 'almost' worthless, because I think this reply has a tiny bit of value to me. It at least tells me that there's likely no other background issue taking place. Chances are that they're simply busy.

Some people have worried to me that these delays might be because of the game's content. I don't think this is likely. For one thing, TPOF is still online and kicking, and the content is basically the same. For another, Steam is very clear about what kind of mature content is allowed on their platform, and everything in my game complies with their rules.

A few people have mentioned another infamous game that recently got pulled for 'similar' content. I don't know a lot about the situation, but I do know that Steam did approve that game, if it was ever public at all. I believe that it got taken down by the publishers because of public backlash- that's different from Steam refusing it or taking it down themselves.

My theory is actually a lot more simple.

I think they're probably just busy as hell because right now is the time to get your game approved if you want to have it fully out by summer. I'm sure there's a huge wave of indie devs hoping to get their ideas out in time for summer break so they can be the hot new title all the streamers play when all the young people get out of school.

I'm guessing my timing is just a little unlucky πŸ˜‚

I want to caution everyone while I'm at it. I do fully expect Steam to get back to me, but it is possible they reject my game again and we'll have to go through this waiting period again. I feel confident that my game meets all the guidelines to be approved, but I'm not so foolhardy as to expect everything will go my way LMAO

I have a crumb of good news though.

On Friday, I felt so well rested and refreshed that I decided to work again. Simply out of boredom and desire for fun. I put in more of the memelord jokes that I've saved up conceptually in my private notes discord for myself.

I think I'm feeling healthy and happy enough to continue working on memelord mode now. I plan to continue adding jokes for as long as Steam keeps me waiting. It's pretty fun :)

Sorry I can't show you anything though. It's all a secret! πŸ˜‰

Take care and stay safe! I hope you guys are getting some nice spring weather like I have!

[ I'm enjoying my new apartment SO much. It got warm for the first time here and I realized ✨I have windows now✨ The luxury feels crazy. My last apartment only had one basement style window and it was locked closed and covered all the time so I was basically working with zero- but now I have 3! That open! It's so nice, thank you guys so much for helping me to afford the new place!!!! ]

I'm glad you've been getting some rest and feeling better! There's nothing like being in a new open space with the light coming in. Also off topic but I named one of my chickens after Celia because she's evil 😭

🐻

I became a time traveler because the game was set in 2016.
