2026-01-11 19:13:22 +0000 UTCAbsolutely... Season 4 and Resurrection S01 are some fantastic television. I would rather he isolate one show as well but .. I get it. Plus.. The Sopranos deserves and kind of requires all of your attention.

2025-12-30 03:24:22 +0000 UTCThe overt sexuality is a bit much in this season and I am glad they do steer away from it because I am not a fan. Doaks is on the trail... But as with all psychopaths (and geniuses) his obsession makes him act foolish. Dexter played him like a fiddle and we really saw Lila's influence. Rita becomes more and more annoying and I feel bad for her children in this episode. The forever victim mentality is real and once again the writers prove they have a hard time understanding the female perspective. Which leads us to Deb. Almost getting to a point of dislikable her character slips further and further away from adulthood and regresses to a 15 year old child. (Which Jennifer plays masterfully but... Not a fan...in the books this is not a thing btw). Lila is fire, she is every girl I dated as a teenager .. artsy, creative and crazy as heck... Problem is .. she's supposed to be a grown woman. You can see where the Dexter character would find something appealing in her. Especially because Rita is so boring, timid and .. pathetic. Lila is none of those things... The only thing they have in common is they are both broken... Rita is the dead fish and Lila is the tsunami that destroys everything. I wish they would have written Lila with more care. A little more nuence... But sadly the writers tend to club you over the head with their female story arcs. Deb and Lilas back and fourths were so annoying. Deb being so judgemental toward her brothers choices of a relationship when she has legit made mistakes after mistake. Rita, Deb and Lila all require better writing. All different levels of the same crazy. Add in the only other real female character Laguarta and her story arc.. and you can tell the writers of this show have a tinge of misogyny to them. Even Matsukas comments borderline on sexual harassment and while you can take it as tongue and cheek when isolated it's kind of a bit much in the bigger picture. The writing on this show is a problem... But it is so well acted and truly Michael C Hall and Jennifer Carpenter make this show so compelling to watch.

But selfishly, I kind of wish you could just binge through Dexter and New Blood, cause Dexter Resurrection season one was amazing and now season two is happening soon. But obviously could cause burn out trying to storm through all of it just to get to Resurrection. So I don't recommend it. I'm just super hyped to see what happens in season 2. In regards to this episode, I completely agree with you that the Deb and Lundy situation is awkward and uncomfortable. When I first saw all this happen between them it also came off as extremely out of character for Lundy. The show presented him as this goofy yet all-business expert hunter with laser focus, and then he ends up having a fling with a lady half his age who works under his authority. It's not only uncomfortable, it doesn't make a lot of sense IMO. But maybe that was the the point. It's to show that despite the way he's perceived, even he has flaws. And I can respect that writing decision too because just like Shrek, we're all onions. Lots of layers.

2025-12-27 01:25:15 +0000 UTCFor me it was never about the age difference, but the difference in status and position in life. And also more responsibility on Lundy rather than Deb. He is this super famous guy who flys into town and becomes drawn to this new detectiveβ¦I would think he would read right through her and know sheβs got a lot of issues and something thatβs too much to deal with. Deb is more of a classic, trying to fill the gap of everything she missed and thought Lundy would be SAFE, and he actually is! But Iβve seen many couple with big age gaps do very well in life when theyβre together for the right reasonsπ

Season 2 is the most roller coaster season, and if I had watched it week to week back in the day when we had no idea if there would even be a season 3, much less more, it would have been totally nail biting!!
