Hey Everyone!
I am so happy to announce that after working on revisions for the past few months, I have completed another draft of The Summer of Green and Gold, an original scenario to be played in Call of Cthulhu that is based on The Great Gatsby.
This draft of the adventure includes:
An adventure that is now 102 pages long taking place in New York City over the course of 4 days in August 1922.
An open ended finale designed to facilitate multiple endings.
Revisions made to the four pre-made investigators for players to use.
17 handouts meticulously designed to guide the mystery.
Four appendices containing character stats, spells and magic items, printable versions of the handouts, and character sheets for the pre-made investigators.
Complete citations of all of the images and sources that were used to create this adventure.
Part of the delay in this draft came in having to find a new artist to do the character portraits after my first artist had to pull out of the project (though I want to see if they can still do some illustrations for me). Though at this point, I commissioned a copy editor to help me fix the grammar and formatting errors, have made a few tweaks and additions for extra clarity, and have added more illustrations and images to help add some variety to the layout.
As I've mentioned before, my overall goal for this project is to record an actual play series of this adventure and to submit the final draft for publication in the Miskatonic Repository, which is an official publisher of fan created content for Call of Cthulhu.
At this point, here is what needs to be done before I submit this for publication:
Finalizing the character portraits (IN PROGRESS)
Create a cover image (ARTIST FOUND)
Create or find illustrations to use in five sections of the book (NOT STARTED YET)
Double check with all the guidelines set by Chaosium for publication (IN PROGRESS)
In terms of future timelines, my current goal is to try to have this submitted for publication before the end of the year. I feel fairly confident that it'll be approved, but it still feels really wild to think that releasing this will make me an published author. Granted, it's still in the capacity of being a self-published author, but this is the kind of achievement that I feel really proud of accomplishing considering how many other things that I do on a regular basis.
Hopefully, the next update relating to this that I release will be the official announcement of its publication status and the actual play series. But until then, I hope you all will enjoy reading through this draft. It's been a labor of love for the past three years, and it feels so exciting to have it almost finally be done.
Thank you for your continued support!
Best Wishes, Henry
