Reading Some Conservative Nonfiction

What started out as a fun video ended up taking a few interesting turns. Although it wasn't by design, I was surprised at how the three random books I chose fed into each other thematically. Though it may just be that all of these nonfiction books are very similar.

There were lots of little things I couldn't include, like how these books recycle anecdotes and for some weird reason the Shapiro and Rubin book had the exact same font for all their headings. But I didn't want to go too long on a topic that didn't really deserve it.

At the moment, I'm trying to work out a catchier title. So far, I'm not a fan of anything I've come  up with though.

While working on this I felt like the quotes sounded a bit too similar to my voice, so I made a second version where I modified my recording to make it easier to tell. It also seemed funny to me, though I have no idea how well it lands. If you have the chance, take a listen below. I modified my reading of the Ben Shapiro and Dave Rubin excerpts.

Currently I'm mostly watching lots of sitcom episodes, though I'd like to start working on another video while I'm doing that. I'm going to be setting aside some time to research new topics in the next few days.

As an aside, I have missed a bunch of people when it comes to sharing download links for my theme song, so instead of sending out DM's, I'm going to start posting it at the end of updates.

Reading Some Conservative Nonfiction

Well I feel honored that you are using my suggestion. :-) And I totally get only being able to read so much Ann Coulter. When I do read her books I can only read a couple chapters at a time because I facepalm myself so much that I almost give myself a concussion.

Oh, I like that title a lot! I think I'm going to have to use it. And originally this video was going to cover four books, but four pages into the Ann Coulter one I had to put it down. Maybe because it was the fourth one I read, or maybe it was just too smarmy, but I couldn't stand going further into it.

As a Leftist I do occasionally read a book by a right-wing author just to see what they are thinking. (I only read them at public libraries because I would never buy one.) They always follow a similar pattern. They talk about how superior America is and that it is the greatest, most wonderful country on earth. They also usually emphasize that conservatives, and conservatives alone, love and appreciate this land. The Left, on the other hand, despises this country and hates all things good and decent. In fact, if you listen to conservative authors, we on the Left would love nothing more than to turn America into a Stalinist hellhole where "wokeness" rules and we all live in teepees to save the environment. It's a very black and white worldview. All these books do is reassure conservatives that they are good and that the Left is bad. Oh sure they are all strawman arguments but that is what the Right excels at. I also found it very hard to believe that so many conservative books are best sellers. But then you pointed out how they use bulk sales to inflate their popularity and it all makes sense now. By the way, if you want to read stuff that will really make you want to gouge your eyes out read anything by Michael Savage or Ann Coulter! Hateful and horrible are the only two words to describe their books. You do an excellent job on all your videos! I appreciate all the time and effort you put into them. Keep up the good work. As for a title how about just "Conservative Nonfiction Nonsense"?
